Charles L. Youmans

GILBOA — Charles L. Youmans, 82, of Flat Creek Road, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at the Bassett Hospital in Cobleskill, following a long illness.

Mr. Youmans was born April 6, 1917, on Fultonham, the son of Charles and Helen (Gridley) Youmans.

Mr. Youmans was employed as a security guard for the New York State Power Authority in Gilboa for several years before retiring.

In his early years, Mr. Youmans was manager of the former WGY Grocery Store in Middleburgh and then the Oneida Market for many years.

Mr. Youmans then joined the United States Army serving from 1942 to 1946. He was discharged as a technician, 5th Class. After the war, Mr. Youmans was the owner of the former Oucangena View Tourist Home on River Street in Middleburgh. Later, he managed the Sunoco Station (now Ryan's) on Main Street, Middleburgh.

Mr. Youmans was a past president of the Middleburgh Rotary Club, as well as a free and accepted mason.

Mr. Youmans spent many winters at his home in Stuart, Fla. In the summertime, he enjoyed his hobby of antiques and collectibles.

Mr. Youmans was predeceased by his first wife, Alta (Mabie) Youmans; his second wife, Marion (Wally) Youmans; his only daughter, Donna Youmans; two brothers, James and John Otto Youmans; and a sister, Elizabeth Y. Frisbie Pulver.

Mr. Youmans is survived by one sister, Laura (Youmans) Brandow of Altamont; his beloved and devoted fiancee, Maude Haskin of Broome Center; two nieces, Helen Brandow Coughtry and Sybil Youmans Reisch; two nephews, William H. Brandow Jr. and John Kendell Youmams; two stepdaughters, Janette Brown Reynolds and Donna Carpinelli; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 1999, at the Palmer & Shaylor Inc., Funeral Home, 63 River St., Middleburgh, with the Rev. Paul Ferenczy, of the Middleburgh Reformed Church, officiating. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery.

Evelyn Bottner

ONEONTA — Evelyn Bottner, 75, passed away at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta, on Wednesday, May 12, 1999, after a recent illness.

She had retired as a legal secretary in 1986, and came to live in Cobleskill.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Alfred Bottner, his wife, Mindy, and granddaughter, Emily Bottner; her sister, Lila Lehnhardt of Cobleskill; and niece and nephew, Carol and Arthur Cuthbert of East Worcester.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Bottner; her parents, Minnie and James McKeown; and four brothers, Walter, Harold, Charles and William McKeown.

Burial will be in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Arrangements are being handled by Grants Funeral Home, 571 Suffolk Ave., Brentwood. Calling hours are 10 a.m to noon on Monday, May 17, 1999. Burial to follow at 1 p.m. in Long Island National Cemetery.

Millicent Rendo

MORRIS — Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Millicent Rendo, a former resident of Morris, will be held Saturday, May 15, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Rendo Family plot in Hillington Cemetery, in Morris, with the Rev. Kip Stratton officiating.

August Maul

SCHENEVUS — August Maul, 91, of Badeau Hill Road, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.

Mary N. Miller

ONEONTA — Mary N. Miller, 105, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1980.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Sargent of Vestal; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Louise France of Oneonta.

Services will be held at a later date at Atonement Lutheran Church, where she was the oldest member.

Arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

John J. Halloran

SIDNEY — John J. Halloran, 69, of 8 Colegrove St., Sidney, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, May 12, 1999, at his home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Edith D. Hymers

DELHI — Memorial graveside service for Edith D. Hymers, who passed away Feb. 22, 1999, will take place Friday, May 14, 1999, at 11:30 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Mary L. Ferris

CHERRY VALLEY — A graveside service for Mary L. Ferris will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 1999, at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, with the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor of the Worcester and East Worcester Methodist Churches, officiating.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St.

Peter A. Zintel

MILFORD — A committal service for Peter A. Zintel, who died Jan. 4, 1999, will be Saturday, May 15, 1999, at noon at the Milford Cemetery, with Fr. Paul Roman, pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Oneonta, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Phyllis M. Ostrander

EAST SPRINGFIELD — Graveside memorial and committal services for Mrs. Phyllis M. Ostrander, who passed away March 13, 1999, will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Center, with Mr. Lyman Johnson officiating.

Arrangements were by the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Donald H. Collins

Graveside committal services and spring burial for Mr. Donald H. Collins, who passed away Dec. 30, 1998, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 1999, in the Cherry Valley Cemetery, Cherry Valley, with Mr. Lyman Johnson officiating.

Audrey L. Norton

SOUTH VALLEY — Committal services and spring burial for Mrs. Audrey Norton, who passed away March 10, 1999, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 1999, in South Valley Cemetery, South Valley, with the Rev. Alan Miller, pastor of the First Christian Church, South Valley, officiating.
