AFTON Herbert Fitzgerald, 75, of Afton passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004, at his

Evelyn C. Utter, Cherry Valley.
*Billye A. Vagliardo, 80, Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Oneonta.

He was born Jan. 9, 1929, son of the late William and Mary Hunter Fitzgerald in Brooklyn.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Herbert married Joan Philippi on Dec. 23, 1978.
He was employed by the New York State Division of Youth Camp Brace in Masonville when he retired. He was also the Code Enforcement Officer and the Animal Control Officer for the village and towns of Bainbridge and Afton, as well as the humane officer for the Chenango County SPCA.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Fitzgerald; daughters, Patricia Ryan, Geanne Best and her husband, Glenn, and Joan Archer and her fiance, Richard Struble; sons, Jeremy Fitzgerald, and Patrick Fitzgerald and his fiancee, Erin Skinner; brother, William Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Tracie Hauptmann, Lindsey Best, Sierra, Grace and Eden Archer, Stella Fitzgerald, Sean, Edward and Matthew Ryan.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Fitzgerald.
Friends may call Saturday, April 17, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bainbridge, with the Rev. Linda King Watkins officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY, Chenango County SPCA or the Alzheimer's Association, 1406 Monroe St., Endicott, NY 13760.

ONEONTA Thomas Osborne, 57, of Oneonta passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends.
A full obituary will appear in Saturday's edition of The Daily Star.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.

CHERRY VALLEY Evelyn C. Utter passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004, at The Meadows.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Ottman Funeral Home, and a full obituary will appear at a later date.
Billye A. Vagliardo
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. Billye A. Vagliardo, 80, a 12-year resident of Winter Haven, formerly of Oneonta, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the Meadow Assisted Living Establishment in Winter Haven.
She was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Winston-Salem, N.C., the daughter of William and Lucille (Woolridge) Albright.
She married Carmen J. Vagliardo on Dec. 28, 1965, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Before her retirement, she worked for 22 years at SUNY Oneonta, and before that, she taught physical education.
She was a member of the Lake Alfred First Baptist Church and a former member of the Oneonta Country Club.
Billye loved to participate in a variety of sports, especially bowling, golf, tennis and softball.
She is survived by her husband, Carmen Vagliardo of Winter Haven, Fla.; her children, Sherry Dobson of Hamlin, Thomas James of Destin, Fla., and Leslie James of Washington, D.C.; her stepchildren, Carmen Vagliardo of Oneonta, James Vagliardo of Apalachin, and Rosemary Hassick of Oneonta; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Bernice Daniels of Texas.
It was Billye's wish that there be no formal funeral service.
