He was born March 11, 1945, in New York City, the son of William F. and Mary (Rodgers) Dorritie. He married Eileen T. Rogers on Nov. 11, 1972, in Queens.

He was a 1967 graduate of Iona College in New Rochelle.

Bill was currently the director of safety and security at Hartwick College in Oneonta. He also served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, was stationed in Vietnam and assigned to the military police, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Oneonta American Legion Post 259, and the Northeast Colleges and Universities Security Administrators Association.

Bill enjoyed golf and was an avid Yankee and Giants fan.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Eileen T. Dorritie, of Mt. Vision; his children, William F. Dorritie and his wife Shelley, of Oneonta, Captain Mary T. Dorritie, U.S. Army, of El Paso, Texas, Michael C. Dorritie and his wife, Megan, of Rochester, Kathleen A. Dorritie, Kevin E. Dorritie, and Thomas J. Dorritie, all of Mt. Vision; his grandson, Eric T. Dorritie, of Oneonta; a sister, Marilyn Bellini and her husband, Vincent, of Floral Park; and their children and spouses, Vincent and his wife, Vera, Edward, and Raymond and his wife, Candace. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Frank J. Rogers, of Oneonta; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Eggleton and her husband, Douglas, of Maryland, and Susan Utter, of Rochester; an aunt, Kathleen Dorritie, of Herkimer; and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor, officiating.

Spring burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Emmons.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta when the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Esther B. Sisson

SIDNEY — Esther B. Sisson, 89, of Sidney passed away Wednesday, Jan., 11, 2006, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.

She was born May 23, 1916, the daughter of the late Walter and Cora (Burnett) Rose in Nineveh.

She married Woodrow L. Sisson in Great Bend, Pa., on Dec. 8, 1939. He predeceased her Nov. 21, 1985.

Esther graduated from Afton High School with the class of 1932 and from the State University College at Cortland with the class of 1935. She received her bachelor’s degree from State University College at Oneonta in 1964 and her master’s in 1971.

Esther enjoyed traveling, playing cards and was an avid reader. She was a teacher, having worked a short time in Kirkville. She later retired from Gilbertsville Central School in 1981.

Mrs. Sisson was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church, the New York State Retired Teachers Association, Sidney Monday Club and Sidney Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by her son, David L. Sisson, of Clifton Park; two sisters, Frances Rose, of Nineveh, Audrey and James Scott, of Nineveh, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Monday, Jan., 16, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

The Rev. David Masland of the United Methodist Church of Sidney will officiate.

Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or the Sidney Memorial Public Library.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Nellie K. Clapsaddle

COOPERSTOWN — Nellie K. Clapsaddle, 94, of Cooperstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at her Glen Avenue residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.
