Carol Jean Cawley Barrows EAST SPRINGFIELD Mrs. Carol Jean Cawley Barrows, 62, passed away Jan. 23, 2006, at her home.

| She was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Sidney, the daughter of William E. and Isabelle (Howe) Cawley.
She married George Alvie Barrows on May 9, 1964, in Holmesville, by the Rev. Bob Mattox.
Wife, daughter, grandmother, Carol, enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She had worked as a cashier for P&C in Hartwick Seminary and as a caregiver.
She enjoyed shopping, yard sales and crocheting.
"We will miss our wife, mom, sister and friend."
Survivors include, her husband; son, Roger Barrows, his wife, Anna, and their son, Roger II; daughter, Irene (Barrows) Howell and her husband, Tony, and their children, Brian, Kasandra, and Anthony; a daughter, Audrey (Barrows) Wood and her husband, James, and their children, Darren, Siera, Amber, and Devin; a son, Wayne Barrows and his wife, Judy Mukina (Kimotho); a daughter, Kimberlie (Barrows) Cutting and her husband, Jeffrey, and their children, Caitlin, Crystal, Jeffrey II, Emily, Briana, Caleb and Katrina. Also, Carol’s brothers and sisters, Ernie Cawley, Bill Cawley, Dela (Cawley) Argent and Patricia (Cawley) Conn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Alan Potter of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ames, officiating.
Spring burial will be in Coventry at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
Carrie Ingalls Shupe BINGHAMTON Carrie Ingalls Shupe, 84, of Binghamton and formerly of Afton, passed away peacefully Jan. 22, 2006, at Good Shepherd Fairview Homes.
She was born May 25, 1921, in Unadilla, the youngest of eight children of the late Alfonzo and Adria (Gardner) Ingalls.
Carrie graduated from Unadilla Central School in 1938 and from Syracuse University’s School of Nursing in 1942. She was an operating room nurse at Syracuse University Hospital before joining the Army Nurse Corps in 1943. She served as a registered nurse in the Army for two years during World War II, stationed in England. After the war, she worked as a nurse in the Afton Hospital.
She married Robert A. Shupe in Afton in 1947. They were married for 55 years. He predeceased her in 2003.
Carrie was a homemaker. She volunteered as a nurse for the Blood Mobile, and as a volunteer coordinator for the American Cancer Society. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She was a member of the American Legion and Auxiliary, the V.F.W., New York State Nurses’ Association, and the Afton Methodist Church.
Carrie enjoyed art, drawing, handicrafts, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and sewing. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Dan Barbasch, of Ithaca, and Janis and Dale Schmidt, of San Diego, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Hoby) and JoAnn Shupe, of Baldwinsville; six grandchildren, Claire, Tina and Sophie Barbasch, of Ithaca, John Schmidt, of San Diego, Calif., Johnna Angotti, of Orlando, Fla., and Jeanna Angotti, of Liverpool; a sister, Clara O’Hara ,of Norwich; four sisters-in-law, Gertrude Ingalls, of Austell, Ga., Esther Ingalls Steffen, of Franklin, Viola Ingalls, of Oneonta, and Joyce (Shupe) and husband, Clarence Burnett, of Afton; a brother-in-law, Walter Shupe, of Sauquoit; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at the United Methodist Church of Afton.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Chenango County Unit, or the Good Shepherd Fairview Living Care Fund, 80 Fairview Ave., Binghamton, NY 13904.

S. Marie Hardy NEW BERLIN S. Marie Hardy, 65, of 424 Whitney Road, New Berlin, passed away Jan. 23, 2006, at her home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1940, in New Berlin, the daughter of the late Elmer and Dorothy (Hill) Cole.
Her daughters, Teisha Hardy, of Holland Patent, and Londa Holt, of New Berlin; her grandchildren, Tansy Holt and Cody Hillyard; and her brothers, Eugene Cole and Royce Hill, survive her. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her daughter, Jane Hillyard, predeceased her.
Marie had been a hairdresser for many years and formerly co-owned a beauty school in Utica. For over 30 years, she provided family care for Broome Developmental Services, from which she retired in November 2004.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
Donald C. Post GOODYEAR LAKE Donald C. Post, 75, of Goodyear Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at his residence.
He was born June 1, 1930, in Bellevedere, the son of Clarence B. and EvieAvolena (Furman) Post.
In the late 1950s, Don had his own milk route. After giving up his milk route, he worked at several farms as a farm hand. After that, he worked in construction and stone masonry. He worked with Robert Schlee Contractor until the 70s. For 13 years, Don worked at The Daily Star as a motor route carrier.
Don was an enthusiastic hobbyist and outdoorsman. He learned to fly an airplane, he enjoyed boating, fishing and going back to Wellsville, visiting his family and attending family reunions. Don enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
Don is survived by his daughter, Virginia Ellis, of Oneonta; three grandchildren, Charles Ellis, Nicholas Ellis, of Oneonta and Kearra Doheny, of Oneonta; one brother, James Post, of Wellsville; three sisters, Linda Hosley, of Wellsville, Dorothy Guinnis, of Wellsville and Sandra Saunders, of Arizona; as well as many nieces and nephews, and his dear friend, Doug Nelson, of Goodyear Lake.
He was predeceased by his son, David Michael Post; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Kenneth Hunter, pastor of St. James Episcopal Church, Oneonta, officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in the Maryland Cemetery, Maryland.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.
Grace Catherine Robinson BOONVILLE Mrs. Grace Catherine Robinson, 92, formerly of Forestport, died late Sunday night, Jan. 22, 2006, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Boonville.
Born in Detroit, Mich., on Jan. 25, 1913, Grace was the daughter of John and Gertrude Hilson and attended Utica Free High School.
She was first married to Leo Frederick Feik, who predeceased her in August of 1970. On April 5, 1975, she married Harold Robinson, who died Nov. 1, 1991.
Employed for many years as a seamstress at various mills in the Utica area, she was a communicant of the Catholic Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Utica.
Grace is survived by her three grandchildren, Bradford J. Feik and his wife, Yvette, Jeffrey Feik and his wife, Kimberly, and Kimberly Potts and her husband, James E. Potts Jr., all of Cooperstown; five great-grandchildren, Jamie L. Feik, Timothy J. Feik, Alicea R. Potts, Scott J. Feik and Sarah Feik, all of Cooperstown; her former daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joan Foland Welch, of Cooperstown; and two brothers, Phil Hilson, of Michigan and Walt Hilson, of Massachusetts.
She was predeceased by her son, James Frederick Feik, who died Aug. 9, 2002.
A graveside service of committal and burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, in Calvary Cemetery, Utica, with the Rev. Mr. William Hotaling, deacon of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Utica, officiating.
Arrangements are with Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home, 82 Chestnut St., Cooperstown.
Bernice M. Sandike ONEONTA Bernice M. Sandike, 79, of Oneonta, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.
She was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Oneonta, the daughter of John and Hazel (Baker) Schaffer.
On Sept. 11, 1949, Bernice married Joseph H. Sandike at the Old Salvation Army in Oneonta. Mr. Sandike predeceased her June 12, 1998.
Bernice worked for the Department of Public Works through the Green Thumb Program in Oneonta.
She was a member of the Oneonta Salvation Army for over 50 years, where she was very active and was a bell ringer for the Red Kettle Drive.
She enjoyed doing puzzle books, reading and taking walks. Throughout the years, she participated in several walking marathons.
But most of all, Bernice loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter, Hannah "Banana."
Bernice is survived by her five children, Robert Sandike of Maryland, Jo Anne Schaffer, of Oneonta, Patricia Clapper and her fiance, Roger Votee, of Otego, Hazel and Dennis Buel, of Delhi and Gloria and Andrew Eichler, of Oneonta; three grandchildren, Jason, Amanda and O.J.; one great-granddaughter, Hannah; four brothers, Earl Schaffer, of Pennsylvania, Bill Schaffer, of Oneonta, John Schaffer, of Arizona and Ernie Schaffer, of New York; one sister, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Weilenmann, of Norwich; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at the Oneonta Salvation Army, 25 River St., Oneonta, with the Major Mary Fitch officiating.
Burial will be held in the spring in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta.
