Devere A. Rosa SIDNEY Devere A. Rosa, 64, of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home.

| He was born April 9, 1941, son of Devere and Thelma (Finch) Rosa in Wayawanda.
Devere attended Sidney Central Schools and enlisted in the United States Army. Upon an honorable discharge, he owned and operated a refuse service and was also employed by NYSEG at the Jennison Plant in Bainbridge. Devere retired in 1996 and had since worked for Chambers and O’Hara as a driver.
Mr. Rosa enjoyed NASCAR, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott and Sheri Rosa, Norwich, and Steven Rosa, Syracuse; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny and Brian Sweet, North Carolina, and Shelly and Stephen Terzo, Guilford; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Donalie and Leon Kelly, Ovid, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Gary.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Memorial services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Sidney Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Lillian Semiz STAMFORD Lillian Semiz, 83, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford. She was a former resident at the Hearthstone Home for Adults in Hobart.
She was born in Paterson, N.J., the daughter of Peter and Caroline (Frederick) Brower.
She was married in 1958 in Paterson, N.J., to Peter Semiz Jr. He predeceased her June 29, 2002.
She was a longtime area resident, relocating from New Jersey.
Lillian was a secretary at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Dental College in Teaneck, N.J., and while working there she was able to receive a bachelor’s degree.
She is survived by her nephews, Allan (Linda) Weinmann of Hobart, and James (Theresa) Brower of Caldwell, N.J.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford, with the Rev. Frank Adams officiating.
Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.
Lawrence C. Snyder Sr. CHERRY VALLEY Mr. Lawrence C. Snyder Sr., 87, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Palatine Nursing Home, Palatine.
He was born July 29, 1918, in Middlefield, the son of Barney and Nettie (Murray) Snyder.
On Sept. 1, 1940, he married Elizabeth Bogardus in Westville. She survives.
A resident of Cherry Valley for 46 years, he worked at Beechnut, Canajoharie, as a supervisor. He was a member of Freysbush Grange and the Cherry Valley Fish and Game Club.
Survivors, besides his wife, Elizabeth B. Snyder of Cherry Valley; include a daughter, Beverly Jean Snyder Leneker and her husband, Raymond; a son, Lawrence Snyder Jr. and his wife, Sue Claire, all of Canajoharie; grandchildren, Sandra Snyder Perl, Larry Snyder III, James Snyder, Scott Snyder, Stacy Leneker, Mark Leneker and Kelli Gomez; great-grandchildren, Allie Perl, Andrew Perl, Larry Snyder IV, Kristopher Snyder, Alex Snyder, Madaline Snyder, Helen Snyder, Jayne Snyder, Elizabeth Snyder, Zachary Snyder, Scotty Snyder Jr., Carlin Frish, Reagen Clay, Dillon Clay, Gabrianna Gomez, Adriana Gomez and Julien Gomez; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Freysbush officiating.
Spring burial will be in the Cherry Valley Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at the funeral home.
Contributions in Mr. Snyder’s memory may be made to the Cherry Valley Fish and Game Club.

Jim Tucker DELHI James R. "Jim" Tucker, 77, a longtime Delhi resident and businessman, passed away suddenly Tuesday night, Feb. 14, 2006, shortly after arrival at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi.
The son of Frederick R. and Lillian Eula Mae (Edwards) Tucker, he was born April 25, 1928, in New York City, grew up in Scarsdale, and was a graduate of Delhi College.
"Jim" lived in Delaware County since 1950, where he operated his own dairy farm in Bloomville for 11 years, subsequently moving to Delhi where he was a 40-year self-employed house painter and meticulous workman in addition to driving a daily school bus for Delaware Academy, BOCES students and sports events for over 25 years.
A member of Delhi Masonic Lodge, Jim also enjoyed men’s league bowling, was a lifelong stamp collector, and will be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor and perpetual practical jokes.
Surviving are his seven children, Catherine Smith of South New Berlin, Diane Daye of Delhi, Susan Teelon of Hammond, Wis., James Tucker Jr. of Delhi, Todd Tucker of Oconomowoc, Wis., Rani Tucker of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Zachary Tucker of Oneonta; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by a brother, Keith Tucker.
Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, when the family will be in attendance at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. James McEathron, and burial will be later in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
Memorial contributions to Delaware Academy Scholarship Fund will be appreciated.

Mary E. Jennings SIDNEY Mary E. Jennings, 79, of Sidney, went to be with her Lord and Savior, and her beloved husband, Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006.
She was born Sept. 1, 1926, daughter of the late Ira and Frances (Emerick) Neer Sr. in Delhi.
Mary married Charles M. Jennings on Sept. 6, 1944. He predeceased her May 4, 2000.
Mary was a very energetic woman; after she retired from Bard Parker in Hancock, she worked at Nancy’s Place in Sidney and also was a home health aide.
When Mary wasn’t working she was taking care of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
She was a member of the Circle Drive Alliance Church in Sidney.
She is survived by her two sons, Gary Jennings, Arkansas, and Charles Jennings, Sidney; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joanne and Bill Kane, Unadilla, and Debbie Greco, Sidney; three brothers, Herbert Neer, Laurens, Harvey Neer, Garrattsville, and Robert Neer, McClure; four sisters, Pauline Wilson, Sidney, Doris Omahen, Sidney, Edith Griffith, Otego, and Shirley Wood, Hobart; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also predeceased by her brother, Ira Neer Jr.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Circle Drive Alliance Church in Sidney, with the Rev. Robert Goldenberg officiating.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.

Joan U. Dorr LAURENS A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for Joan U. Dorr at the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main St., Oneonta, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the Catskill Area Hospice of Oneonta, to the American Cancer Society or to the Harry Edwin and Joan U. Dorr Scholarship Fund, Institutional Advancement, Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY 13820.
