Alexander P. Bovit Jr.

ALBANY — Alexander P. Bovit Jr., 82, of Albany, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Oneonta on June 5, 1923, the son of Alexander P. and Mary Norene (Maloney) Bovit Sr.

Alexander was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Oneonta, as well as Oneonta High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Following the service he continued his education and graduated from Sienna College. An Albany resident since 1945, he was a member of St. Mary’s Church of Albany, and was employed by Key Bank.

He is survived by his sisters, Betty Vielkind and her husband, George, of Schenectady, and Barbara Fall and her husband, Donald, of Syracuse; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert T. Bovit, in 1996.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in St. Mary’s Church, Walnut Street, Oneonta, with the Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the spring in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, from 9:30 a.m. until departing for church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home of Oneonta.

Carolyn Jean Ives

GUILFORD — Carolyn Jean Ives, 53, of Guilford, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 6, 1952, the beloved daughter of Gottlieb and Betty (Howe) Ackeret in Sidney.

Carolyn married John Wayne Ives on Sept. 20, 1975, in Sidney.

She loved animals; she had worked and volunteered at the Delaware Valley Humane Society in Sidney for many years.

Carolyn is survived by her mother, Betty Ackeret, Sidney; her husband, John W. Ives, Guilford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Travis and Kim Ives, Sidney, and John Ives Jr., Sidney; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Chris Goodrich, Walton, and Tanya and Chris Stewart, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Stephen, Dillon, Katrina, Tuckerjohn, Tanner, Kali and Christina; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Kathy Ackeret, Tennessee; sister, Kathleen Ackeret, Pennsylania; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father, Gottlieb Ackeret.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 East Main St., Sidney.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.

G. Raymond Hyde Jr.

MORRIS — G. Raymond Hyde Jr., 65, of Morris, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

He was born in the Bronx on June 24, 1940, the son of Raymond and Vivian (Keppie) Hyde.

He was married to Margaret Webster Hyde on May 5, 1962, in Chadwicks.

He spent most of his life in Morris, and was a graduate of Morris Central School, class of 1958.

He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force.

He was a general contractor and retail manager. He had a 20-year career with F.W. Woolworth Co.

He is survived by his companion, Caroline Furlong, of Morris; a daughter, Cheryl Koenig, and her husband, Mitchell, of Tequesta, Fla.; a son, Ramon Hyde and his wife, Laura, of Massena; a brother, Wesley Hyde of Denver, Colo.; and a sister, Lori Exline of Wichita, Kan.; as well as six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his children, Michele, Michael and Colin.

Calling hours will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today, Feb. 20, 2006, at which time a funeral service will be conducted at the Johnston Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Witt Jr. officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Hillington Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
