Patricia Kegan Aponte

GILBERTSVILLE — Patricia Kegan Aponte, 66, died on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Gilbertsville. She was under the care of Catskill Area Hospice.

Pat Kegan was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Jan. 21, 1940, to her parents Dorothy Hope Hammock from Blakely, Ga., and Kenneth Kegan. Pat was the younger of two siblings. Pat’s brother, Bobby Kegan died in 1966. Pat is survived by her daughter Jeri Hope Wachter, grandson Aidan Arthur Woishnis and her daughter Jan’Ann Marie Aponte.

Pat Kegan moved to New York City at 16 to pursue her passion for acting under the instruction of Cashman, Brody and Bergoff. Establishing herself on stage in New York and as a model, she returned to the theatre of her home town to rave reviews and cover stories in all the press. New York City was a long way from Chattanooga but her heart remained in the South… According to Pat it is "the most beautiful place on earth."

Pat’s life was full of color and grace as would be of a true southern bell. Pat never saw a stranger in her lifetime and turned heads in every room. Pat was known for her beauty, confidence, generosity, gentleness and southern charm. Pat Kegan was and will always be remembered as a loving woman…wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Special thanks to everyone on Pat’s team at Catskill Area Hospice. Your time, gentle guidance, support and belief in dying with dignity made it possible for Pat’s family to do what was best for their mother. Thank you.

Patricia Kegan Aponte was buried beside her mother in the Lakewood South Cemetery in Rossville, Ga. Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 27, at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel Chattanooga, Tenn.
