Maurice Saunders UNADILLA Maurice Saunders, 83, of Unadilla passed away Wednesday evening, March 8, 2006, at A.O. He was born June 17, 1922, in the town of Butternuts to the late Fred J. and Frances (Martindale) Saunders.
He married the former Freda Sisson on July 4, 1942. She died Aug. 15, 1964. On Nov. 6, 1968, he married Leatrice Bennett Stanton, who survives him.
Maurice was a dairy farmer for 43 years and was a member of the Eastern Milk Producers.
He was raised to a Master Mason on March 15, 1955, at Butternuts Lodge No. 515 F & AM and served as Master of the Lodge in 1964-65. He was a member of the Oneonta Lodge of Perfection and was their Pontaint Master during 1965-66.
He had served as the Assessor and Chairman for the town of Butternuts for 15 years and was a member of the Unadilla Center Methodist Church.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Leatrice, of Unadilla; a son, Dennis Saunders of Unadilla; four stepchildren, Gwendolyn Morgan of Norwich, Donna Leonard and Norma Viele, both of Unadilla, and Raymond Keith Stanton of Griffin, Ga. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His son Robert Saunders died in 1991.
Funeral services will be at the family’s convenience. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Rogers Hollow Cemetery, Unadilla.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home Inc., 123 Main St., Unadilla, under the supervision of James S. Westcott and James C. Magee, funeral directors.
Emily Silliman McDonald Boikovs JEFFERSON Emily Silliman McDonald Boikovs (The Candy Lady), 69, of Jefferson, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Emily, the daughter of Hollister and Letha (Sutton) Silliman, was born Aug. 26, 1936, in the town of Exeter.
She married Janis (John) Boikovs in Jefferson on July 18, 1986.
She had lived in the Jefferson area since 1976. She was a strong supporter of disabled veterans’ groups throughout her life.
Emily will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and many friends and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her thoughtfulness and caring ways. All who knew her were always greeted with a "Werther’s candy" and as a result she gained the name, "The Candy Lady." One of her favorite pastimes was picking blueberries.
She is survived by her husband, Janis (John) Boikovs, of Jefferson; a son, David McDonald and wife Helen of Lexington; a daughter, Debi McDonald and life partner Tim Kinch of Bloomville; a son, Edward McDonald and wife Deborah; and a grandson, Justin McDonald of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ann Blair officiating.
Interment will be in Hillington Cemetery at a later date.

Wayne Delos Livingston NORWICH Wayne Delos Livingston, 63, of Norwich passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at Bassett Hospital. He had been living at the Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich.
He was born in Columbus, Miss., in 1942, the son of Irma (Bundy) Livingston and Raymond Livingston. He spent most of his life in New York State and the Carolinas.
He is survived by his mother, Irma Ruston of Gilbertsville; his five daughters, Denise Thompson of South New Berlin, Darlene Miller of Sherburne, Dawn Livingston of Florida, Tanya Conroy of Earlville, and Kelly Livingston of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Matthew, Cody and Brian Thompson of South New Berlin, Matthew, Ronnie and Olivia Miller, Kayleigh Livingston and Kyle Conroy; his brother, Howard Livingston of York, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves three aunts, Wilma Pitreau and Julia Orbacz of Otego, and Carol Cossetti of W. Enfield, Maine.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Morris Baptist Church, with the Rev. Norman Moran officiating. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church Monday.

Kathryn A. Mitchell SCHENECTADY Kathryn A. Mitchell, 47, died suddenly Tuesday morning, March 7, 2006, at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Schenectady, Kathy was the daughter of Dorothy E. Strobeck and the late Gerald H. Mitchell.
She attended Duanesburg Central schools and enjoyed crafting, knitting and gardening.
Kathy is survived by her children, Melissa Crandall of Schenectady, Kevin and Brian Crandall, both of Georgia; her mother, Dorothy E. Strobeck (Donald) of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Jodie M. Eckberg (David) of Milford; a brother, Michael H. Mitchell of Schenectady; a granddaughter, Destiny Crandall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 14, 2006, at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. A memorial service will follow the gathering at 7 p.m.

Robert L. Sutton MARYLAND Robert L. Sutton, 72, of Maryland, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006.
Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. until the funeral service time at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006.
