Richard ’Dick’ Barnes UNADILLA Richard "Dick" Barnes, 59, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Albany Medical Center, Albany.
Dick was born April 30, 1946, in Sidney, the son of Clinton and Hattie Barnes.
He married Susan Browning on June 10, 1967, and was inducted into the United States Army three days later. He served a tour of combat duty in Vietnam as a platoon sergeant with the 11th Infantry Brigade, earning the Bronze Star for Valor. Upon returning home, Dick had several careers, including Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Unadilla and owning his own plumbing, heating and electrical business. Most recently, he was employed as Director of Weatherization for Opportunities for Delaware County, a position in which he oversaw the expansion of the Weatherization program, as well as construction of the new company headquarters.
Dick served his community through his work with many organizations, including the Unadilla Fire Department and Emergency Squad.
He graduated with the first class of Otsego County EMTs and served for many years as fire chief. He was also one of the founders of the Unadilla Explorer Post No. 11.
In 1989, he received the Gary Goodier Service Award for Community Service. Dick also worked for many years with Boy Scout Troop No. 1. He also currently was serving on the Sidney Town Board as Deputy Supervisor.
Dick’s greatest love in life was his family and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, of Unadilla; and two sons and their wives, Rick and Alison Barnes of Unadilla and Chad and Jennifer Barnes of Unadilla. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Barnes and close friend, Warren Sutton, of Krumville; half sister, Vera Kilmier of Delhi; and half brother, Terry in North Carolina; his stepmother, Lena of Delhi; and three grandchildren, Don, Sean and Nicole. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Ron.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Unadilla United Methodist Church, Main Street, Unadilla, with the Rev. Kip Stratton officiating.
Interment in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, will be held at a later date.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the Westcott Funeral Home Inc., 123 Main St., Unadilla, (directly off Exit 10 of I-88), when the family will be present at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dick’s name to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home Inc., 123 Main St., Unadilla, under the supervision of James S. Westcott and James C. Magee, funeral directors.
Charles E. Moore HOBART Charles E. Moore, 83, of Hobart, passed away March 12, 2006, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Stamford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Usher Moore, and stepmother, Gertrude Moore.
He married Eugenia Smith. She predeceased him.
A lifelong area resident, he was a dairy farmer in Hobart and in construction work.
He belonged to the Hobart United Methodist Church.
Mr. Moore is survived by a son, Russell Moore of California; two granddaughters, Crystal Moore and April Moore; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Dakota and Cora; and a sister, Betty Stowe of Stamford.
He was predeceased in 1999 by a daughter, Melanie Moore.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Hobart United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lorraine Coscia-Ackerman officiating.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
Burial will be in the spring in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hobart United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home of Hobart.
Charlotte V. Franklin ONEONTA Charlotte V. Franklin, 78, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Whittier Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Ghent.
Arrangements are pending with the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., in Oneonta.
Angevine Keator DELHI Angevine Keator, 79, of Delhi passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi, surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Hobart, the son of Alonzo and Ethel Pearl (Winne) Keator Sr.
Angevine served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He worked as a roofer for Wilson Roofing Company in Oneonta for many years. He was also a truck driver.
He was a member of the Oneonta VFW.
Angevine is survived by his 10 children, Debra Burton of Worcester, Robert Keator of Boise, Idaho, Betty and Allen Wamsley of Oneonta, Angevine and Judy Keator of Maryland, David Keator of Indianapolis, Ind., Roberta Briggs of East Worcester, Joan Keator of Worcester, Rebecca and Leland March of Oneonta, Thomas Keator of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lisa and Russell Keever of Worcester; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Ronald Keator; one sister, Laura Knapp; and six brothers, Norman Keator, Ben Keator, John Keator, Alonzo Keator Jr., Edward Keator and Loren Keator.
A service to celebrate the life of Angevine Keator will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Angevine Keator’s memory to the O’Connor Hospital, 460 Andes Road, Delhi, NY 13753, because of the kindness and caring support they gave to Angevine’s family.

Clarence W. Farmer EVANSVILLE, Ind. Clarence W. Farmer, 78, of Evansville, Ind., died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Deaconess Hospital.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Clarence was a member of the Citizens Band Radio Club.
He was employed at Bucyrus-Erie for many years, since he was 16 years old.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ethal Farmer; brother, Claude Farmer Jr.; sister, Velma Smith; and brother, Orville Farmer.
Clarence is survived by his brother, the Reverend Melvin Farmer and wife Bonnie of West Davenport; nieces and nephews, and a niece, who cared for him, Carol Tenhumberg.
Services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated, by the Reverend Bill Kellough.
Memorial contributions may be made to River Street Baptist Church, 133 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
