Warren G. Watkins COLCHESTER, Vt. Warren G. Watkins, 85, died peacefully in his sleep March 19, 2006, at his home in Colchester, Vt.

| He was born in Susquehanna, Pa., on Nov. 5, 1920, the son of the late Harry and Marion (Westfall) Watkins.
Warren grew up in Oneonta and graduated from Oneonta High School, class of 1939.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the 454 Bombardier Group, flying 50 missions in Europe from 1943-1945.
He was married to Eleanor Swears in 1969. She later predeceased him Feb. 14, 1992.
Warren was employed at IBM in 1945, in various locations Essex Junction, Vt., Poughkeepsie and Vestal and retiring in 1975.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6689 in Essex Jct. and was a member of Ethan Allen Lodge No. 72 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Essex Jct.
Among his many interests, he was a hunter, avid reader and bowler. and should be remembered for his great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by his son, William Miller and his wife, Mitsue, of Colchester; his grandchildren, Dennis Miller and his wife, Megan, of Williston, Lisa Hutton and her husband, Ian, of Easton, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Melia Hutton and Aidan Miller; one brother, Gerald Watkins and his wife, Mary, of Earlville; one sister, Dorothy Kast of Poughkeepsie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins from the United States and England.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2006, in the LaVigne Funeral Home.
Interment will be at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colchester Rescue, PO Box 55, Colchester, VT 05446.
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski, Vt.
Nancy A. Roof SIDNEY Nancy A. Roof, 54, of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 19, 2006, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1951, daughter of Wilson and Irene (Stoutenberg) Cordner in Sidney.
Nancy married Ron Roof in 1969 in Bainbridge.
She is survived by her parents, Wilson and Irene Cordner of Sidney; three sons, Rick Roof of Unadilla, Chad Roof of Afton, and Kevin Roof of Binghamton; two sisters, Debra Barnard of Sidney and Sonja Wilson of Colorado; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gerald and Deborah Cordner of Bainbridge and Gene Cordner of Afton; grandchildren, Adian, Brandon, Gatlin and Ayla; several nieces and nephews; and companion, Jerry Brown of Sidney.
She was predeceased by her brother, William; two sisters, Sandra and Donna; and niece, Shannon Barnard.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Emergency Squad.
Harold ’Rink’ A. Stevens SOUTH KORTRIGHT Harold "Rink" A. Stevens, 90, of Roses Brook Road, South Kortright, died Feb. 21, 2006, at the Brightonian, Rochester, after a brief illness.
He was born July 15, 1915, in Ilion, the son of Elmer and Ida Stevens.
He married the late Louisa Davis on Jan. 18, 1941, on Roses Brook, South Kortright. They were married for 59 years.
Mr. Stevens was a dairy farmer on Roses Brook and a bus driver for the South Kortright Central School District.
He is survived by a son, Thomas H. (Megan) Stevens of Leverett, Mass.; a daughter, Susan S. (Jon) Fabel of Webster; granddaughters, Kaitlin M. and Marissa L. Fabel of Webster, and Alicia Urella of Leverett, Mass.; a nephew, Victor (Nancy) Stevens of Margaretville; and several cousins.
Graveside services will take place at Valley View Cemetery, Roses Brook, South Kortright, at the convenience of the family in the spring.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
Beatrice L. Church DAVENPORT Beatrice L. Church, 88, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Oneonta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oneonta.
She was born Sept. 8, 1917, in Patterson, the daughter of Dewitt and Cora (Sheeley) Mulford.
Her first husband, Guy Hitchcock predeceased her. She married her second husband, Orlo Church, on May 26, 1950, and he predeceased her Jan. 18, 1983.
A housewife, she was also involved in the family farm with her husband.
She enjoyed membership in the Living Water Faith Fellowship Church and was known there as Aunt Bea.
Her family was important to her, and she enjoyed all her grand, great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Marie Terbush of Davenport and Doreen Bush and her husband, Nick, of Windsor; two sons, Guy Hitchcock and his wife, Edna, of Ohio and Ernest and his wife, Norma Hitchcock, of East Meredith; a brother, Ernest Mulford of Ohio; and 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and a sister predeceased her.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006, with Pastor Kenneth Brookens of the Living Water Faith Fellowship officiating in the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the funeral home in Hobart.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
John Taylor Breen Jr. STAMFORD John Taylor Breen Jr., 76, of 47 Lake St., Stamford, passed away peacefully March 7, 2006, in Virginia Beach, at the home of his daughter, Kathleen, with his sister and daughter by his side.
He was born Feb. 10, 1930, the son of the late John Taylor and Dorothy Adrian Breen.
John was predeceased by his wife, Laura Breen; a brother, Robert Breen; and a grandson, William Breen.
John served in the Korea War on the USS Hopper Island. After returning from Korea, he worked for Trailways as a bus driver for many years before retiring from the NYS Power Authority. After his retirement, he and his wife owned and operated the South Kortright Rest Home, as well as opening their home to many foster children.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Breen of Virginia Beach, and children, Cory, Sara and Ashley Taylor; two sons, William Breen and wife Cheryl and their children, Savanna, Shelby and Abby of Fort McCoy Fla., and Dave Breen of Ocala, Fla.; five stepchildren, Carol Schmitt of Harpersfield, Nancy Bellinger-Lindsley of Stamford, Joann Rottingen of Oneonta, Mary Eck of Sidney and Dave Pindar of Jefferson; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, George Breen of Lancaster, Calif., and Adrian Breen of Ohio; two sisters, Dotty Donnelly of Binghamton and Barbara Zirinsky of California; and several nieces and nephews.
John enjoyed reading, politics, fly-fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stamford by the Rev. Robert Stephenson, at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006.
