Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2006, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at St. Mary’s "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church in Cooperstown with the Rev. John P. Rosson, pastor, presiding.

The Service of Committal and burial will be at a later date in Hartwick Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, on Monday evening, March 27, 2006, from 7-9, when Fred’s family will be in attendance. A Vigil Service will be offered at 8:45 Monday evening at the funeral home with Fr. Rosson officiating.

Letitia R. Revett

ONEONTA — Letitia (Tish) Revett, 93, of Oneonta quietly passed away at the Oneonta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, March 24, 2006, and has now been reunited with her husband, Harley and infant daughter, Sandra.

Letitia Frances Rogers was born on June 11, 1912, in Rochester, to Frances Mae (Wahl) and Grover Cleveland Rogers.

Tish graduated from Geneseo Normal School (now State University) in 1933 and began her teaching career in Ithaca. She taught in Ithaca, Ripley, and Fishers Island, where she met Harley. They married on June 27, 1939, in New York City. Harley predeceased her on Jan. 6, 2002.

After raising her children, she re-entered teaching and taught for 16 years in the Island Trees School District on Long Island.

During their retirement, Harley and Tish lived in Wantagh and wintered in Sebring, Fla. In addition, they traveled extensively for 15 years throughout the United States in their travel trailer.

They moved to Oneonta in July of 1996 to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Sy Lloyd of Otego, who survive her. Tish is also survived by a son, William Revett of Alexandria, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Moira Revette of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Laurie Wallace, Jeffrey Lloyd, Christopher Lloyd, Jonathan Revett, Timothy Revett, and Daniel Revette; five great-grandchildren; and devoted nieces, Donna Goens and Barbara Fox of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In addition to her husband, Tish was preceded in death by her sister, Eloise Shortt, daughter, Sandra Jean Revett, and a granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Lloyd.

Tish was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 60 years. She lived at St. James Manor since July 2000, where she enjoyed many friendships.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Manor Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 17.

Interment will be along side Harley in the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam, at a future date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tish’s name to Oneonta Salvation Army, 25 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Arrangements are being handled by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Doris L. Beames

DAYTON, Ohio — Doris L. Beames, 85, of Dayton, Ohio, and formerly of East Meredith, passed away, Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Ohio.

A full obituary will appear in Monday’s edition of The Daily Star.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.

Augustine Friedel

OXFORD — Augustine Friedel Jr., 76, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.

He was born Oct. 11, 1929, son of the late Augustine and Martha (Fitzgibbon) Friedel in Queens.

Gus served his country in the United States Army for 22 years. He later was an owner /operator and truck driver out of Ronkonkoma. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney and a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 4937, Sidney.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Mildbrandt Friedel of Masonville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Joseph Gilhauley of Walton, Claire and Russell Barry of Masonville, Virginia and Thomas Doner of Ronkonkoma; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Mildbrandt of Long Island and John and Sherrie Friedel of Florida; two brothers, Robert Friedel of North Carolina and Eugene Friedel of Red Hook; two sisters, Claire Kirkirkis of New Mexico and Theresa Shelby of California; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 27, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New York State Veterans Home, Patient Fund, 4211 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830.

Elaine Knickerbocker

ONEONTA — Elaine Knickerbocker of Oneonta passed away Friday, March 24, 2006, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford.

Robert Holland Kast

TEMPE, Ariz. — Robert Holland Kast, 88, of Tempe, Ariz., died Saturday, March 18, 2006.

He was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Harrisburg, Pa., the eldest son of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Springer) Kast.

He was married to Dorothy O’Hara Kast of Gilbertsville for 20 years. Dorothy passed away in 2001. He was previously married to Ethel (Kingdon) Kast for 27 years.

He graduated from DePaw University (Class of 1939) in Greencastle, Ind., and remained an active member of the Phi Kappa Delta fraternity for many years.

After college, he started his business career with Sears Roebuck in management. Later, he joined IBM in software sales and was the top salesman in New York City for many years. In his later years he started several small businesses until he retired in the 1970s.

He was known for his big smile and warm, outgoing personality. He loved to help others in the community. He remodeled and improved every home he owned. With his family, he refurbished a lovely old Victorian home on Quaker Hill in Pawling, that became a community center for the arts and music under Ethel’s direction.

After he retired and moved with Dorothy to Gilbertsville, he remodeled the O’Hara family home at 3 Spring St.

Following Dorothy’s death in 2001, he resided with his youngest son, Kenneth, in Shelter Island, and then in Tempe, Ariz., with his daughter, Tedde Scharf.

He is survived by Ethel; their five children, Tedde (Edna Marguerite Kast) Scharf of Tempe, Ariz., Ralph Kingdon Kast of New Zealand, Robert Phillips Kast of Mesa, Ariz., Kenneth Richard Kast of Shelter Island, and Debbe Jeanne (Kast) Wilson of Tubac, Ariz.; and five grandchildren, Matthew Kingdon Kast of New Zealand, Michelle Noelle Kast of New York, Danielle Lee Kast and Sean Kenneth Kast of Shelter Island, and Emma Bumbullis of Peoria, Ariz.

A small memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at the home of Tedde Scharf in Tempe, Ariz.

Memories will be shared through poetry, writings, photographs and music.

Cremation was at the Tempe Mortuary, and final resting place will be the Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the National Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718.

Roberta Eckler Galusha

EAST SPRINGFIELD — Roberta Eckler Galusha, 85, of East Springfield, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, after a long illness in Lake Worth, Texas.

Mrs. Galusha was born June 12, 1920, in Syracuse, to Leslie and Bernice Cotton Eckler. She was raised in the Van Hornesville-Jordanville area, and graduated from Van Hornesville Central School.

She married William G. Flint, and they raised three children, Gary, Linda and David, in Starkville.

Roberta later married Robert Galusha and they lived in East Springfield until his death.

She moved to Azle, Texas, in September 2001, to be near her sons. Her mother, father and stepfather preceded her in death.

Roberta’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

The family respectfully requests that donations be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association, or any local Hospice organization.

Survivors include sons, Gary and his wife, Shirley, and David and his wife, Patricia, all of Azle, Texas; daughter, Linda Abowd of Burke, Va.; brother, Donald Eckler and his wife, Ethel, of Jordanville; grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Tonya, Dale and his wife, Amy, Renee’ Older and Jennifer Flint; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
