Arlene McLachlan
WALTON Arlene McLachlan, 91, a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, after a Index

Arlene was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Walton, the daughter of the late Harry and Goldie Jones Budine.
She was educated in Hamden and Walton schools, and later taught in the Pines Brook Rural School District.
In 1935, she married David McLachlan in Pines Brook. He died July 1, 1976.
Arlene’s main job was taking care of her family, and she did so in a loving and caring way. She loved to tend her garden, knit, do chair caning, bake, and spend time with her family. She was still baking bread until two weeks ago.
Arlene also loved her church. She was a longtime member of the Pines Brook Baptist Church, the Ladies Aid, and served as the church’s treasurer for over 50 years. She was lovingly known to all the children in her church over the years as "Grandma."
She is survived by one daughter, Jean Yarter of McDavid, Fla.; two sons, James McLachlan and his wife, Cathy, of Walton, and Jesse McLachlan and his wife, Charleen, of King Ferry; 10 grandchildren, Serena, Chester, Brian, Melvin, Susan, David, Terri, Duncan, Nathan and Robert; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one brother, Douglas Budine of Biloxi, Miss.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son, Joseph McLachlan, in 1968; a grandson, Victor, in 1985; and a brother, Floyd Budine.
Friends and relatives are invited to call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.
Funeral services will be held at the Pines Brook Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Carl Butler and the Rev Lauren Maxson officiating.
Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.

Audrey L. Phillips
HARTWICK Mrs. Audrey L. Phillips, 75, of South Street in Hartwick, died Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2006, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
LeRoy John Roberts
BAINBRIDGE LeRoy (Roy) Roberts passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
He was born in Passaic, N.J. on June 21, 1929. He lived his early years in Garfield, N.J., and moved to Pequannock, N.J., in 1942. There he met and married Carol Woodham. They moved to Bainbridge in 1970.
He served his country as a reservist from 1946-1949 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1951. He served during Korea and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Roy was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 450 in New Jersey.
After moving to Bainbridge, Roy delivered mail in Sidney from 1970 to 1983. He was promoted to postmaster in Afton in 1983 and retired in 1992. Roy was still a very active member of the Afton Sertoma Club.
Roy loved life and enjoyed talking to everyone he met. He always had a smile on his face and a cheerful attitude.
He is survived by wife of 46 years, Carol Roberts, Bainbridge; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothea (Dee) and Milton Jinks, Bainbridge; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Debbie Roberts, Oak Ridge, N.J.; three grandsons, Robert A. and Michael Roy Jinks, Bainbridge and Nicholas Ryan Roberts, Oak Ridge, N.J.; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond E. and Marie Roberts, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow in West Bainbridge Cemetery.
Donations may be made in his name to the Oxford EMS, Danielle House, Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905, where his out-of-town relatives stayed during his final days, and the Cancer Society.

Gleason Sprague
ONEONTA Gleason Sprague, 91, died March 22, 2006.
Gleason was born April 14, 1914, in Shavertown, the son of Homer and Learia (Duntz) Sprague.
He had been a resident of Downsville for 37 years up until 1951, when he moved to the Oneonta area.
Gleason was married to Mabel Louisa Merrill on June 20, 1937, in Arena. She predeceased him Nov. 25, 1997.
He was a farmer.
Gleason is survived by a brother, Richard, of Downsville; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. April 17, 2006, in the Andes Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Davis of the Hamden Presbyterian Church officiating.
Thelma H. Curtis
GUILFORD CENTER Thelma H. Curtis, 82, of Guilford Center, passed away at the home of her son Richard in Walton on March 28, 2006.
She was born in Endicott on April 3, 1923, the daughter of Alfred and Margaret (Hoyt) Hauschild.
She married Paul Curtis in Sidney on Feb. 11, 1945. He died March 7, 1999.
She served our country during World War II in a Michigan defense plant and was very proud to be one of our nation’s "Rosie the Riveters."
She was employed by Amphenol of Sidney for more than 30 years as an inspector.
She was a member of the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church and the Aerospace workers union of Sidney.
Thelma is survived by her children, Claudia Simon and husband Arthur of Utica, Alan Curtis and wife Joann of Morris, and Richard Curtis and spouse Flossie Brundege Curtis of Walton; a sister, Erma Marble and husband Byron of Guilford; two brothers, Charles Hauschild and wife Helen of New Orleans, La., and David Sager and wife Louise of Bellevue, Fla. She was blessed by her grandchildren, Lisa Collins, Timothy McCarthy, Eliza Simon, Joel Curtis, Michele Farwell, Valerie Curtis and Paul J. Curtis as well as 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother-in-law, Lee Cross of Bellevue, Fla.
Thelma was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Miller Casta and Margaret Ann Sager Cross.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Doris White officiating.
Burial will be private and at a later date in the Guilford Center Cemetery.
