BOVINA CENTER — James F. Haran, 82, of Bovina Center, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at home in Bovina Center.

He was born July 4, 1923, in Brooklyn, the son of Patrick and Beatrice (Nealon) Haran.

Calling hours will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

A prayer service to celebrate the life of James F. Haran will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006, at St. Anne’s Church, Andes, with Father McDevitt officiating.

Burial will take place in Bovina Cemetery, Bovina.

Julia A. Kessler

TROUT CREEK — Julia A. Kessler, 97, of Trout Creek, passed away Sunday morning, April 9, 2006, at Valley View Manor, Norwich, after a long illness.

Mrs. Kessler was born in Ridgewood on Feb. 20, 1909, the daughter of the late William and Theresa Lyendencker Groen.

On April 3, 1937, she married Rudolph J. Kessler in Brooklyn. He died Sept. 29, 2000.

She was employed by Amphenol Corp. of Sidney as an inspector.

Julia loved to sew and cook.

She is survived by one son, Ralph Kessler, and his wife, Betty, of Trout Creek; two stepgrandchildren, Bruce King and Richard VanWie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, April 12, 2006, at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., where services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jennifer Matson Juliano officiating.

Burial will be in Carroll Cemetery, Trout Creek.

Cheryl A. Law

NORWICH — Cheryl A. Law, 55, a lifelong Norwich resident and well-known deli clerk at Tops Market, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2006, at her home.

The daughter of Louis Trask and Virginia (Decker) Trask Bliss, Cheryl was born in Oneonta on March 23, 1951.

After her graduation from Norwich High School in 1969, she took medical-assistant courses from Careerco in Syracuse.

She worked for Dr. Martin Jacobi for more than 15 years until he retired from practice, and held several other jobs over the years. For the past seven years, Cheryl had been the friendly face at the deli counter at Tops Market in Norwich.

Cheryl is survived by her sons, Joseph Law and wife Alicia, and Jamie Law, all of Norwich; by her granddaughter, Mackenzie Law; by her mom, Virginia "Ginny" Bliss; by her sister and brothers, Sandy Myers and husband Bob of Norwich, Douglas Trask of Norwich, Charles "Butch" Trask and wife Mary of Sherburne, Howard Trask and wife Deb of Oneonta, and Arthur Trask of Bovina. She is also survived by her stepmother, Margery Trask; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and her good friend, Darryle Mott.

Cheryl was predeceased by her dad, Louis Trask; and by her nephew, Mark Trask.

Funeral services for Cheryl will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park Methodist Church of Oneonta, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Cheryl’s family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to the Mackenzie Law Trust Fund, care of NBT, Norwich Branch, 52 South Broad St., Norwich, NY 13815, with checks payable to Mackenzie Law and a notation stating it is a memorial contribution.

Gerald E. Lull

ONEONTA — Gerald E. Lull, 75, of Oneonta, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006, in Florida after a long illness.

He was born June 16, 1930, in White Sulphur Springs, the son of Jay M. and Madolin L. (Everett) Lull.

On Jan. 29, 1955, Gerald married Margaretha Anltenhofen; together they shared 51 years of marriage.

Gerald owned and operated a dairy farm on the back Laurens road. Today, his sons run the farm.

He was a member of the Laurens Planning Board, the Board of Assessment Review and was an Agway Committee Man.

Gerald loved spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. He will be deeply missed.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Margaretha M. Lull; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary R. and Karen Lull of Laurens, Jerome J. Lull of Laurens and Douglas M. and Connie Lull of Westford; two granddaughters, Madolin and Mariah Lull of Norwich; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Francella Stepp of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Laurens, and Lorraine and Jack Reed of West Oneonta; one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Phyllis Lull of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Laurens; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the Laurens Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Harry Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Row Cemetery, Laurens. The family will greet friends at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Laurens Presbyterian Church, Laurens, NY 13796 or to the Laurens Emergency Squad, Laurens, NY 13796 in loving memory of Gerald E. Lull.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.

Joseph H. Barker

NEW BERLIN — A graveside committal service for Joseph H. Barker, 48, of Bridgewater, who died Dec. 29, 2005, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, New Berlin, with the Rev. Stephen Reese of Columbus Community Church, town of Columbus, officiating.

The Dakin Funeral Home in New Berlin is serving the family.
