Some still waiting for power

ONEONTA Some area residents were still without power Wednesday, following last weekend's ice storm.
Annie Myers of West Oneonta has been without power since 5:30 p.m. Sunday, she said. Her household has been using a gas range for heat.
"We have closed off the rest of the house so what's open is the kitchen and the living room," said Myers, an Otsego Electric Co-op customer. "When it's dark, we have an oil lamp and candles, and when it's time for bed we have a lot of blankets and each other."
Myers added, "I'm worried about our food because the freezer is 50 degrees inside so I had to take everything out."
Otsego Electric Co-op officials were out of the office and did not return calls for comment on Wednesday.
Kathy King, customer service manager for the New York State Electric & Gas Corp., said NYSEG still had 450 customers without power in Chenango and Otsego counties. Most of the affected customers were in Chenango County, and NYSEG expected to have power restored for all but a handful of customers by this morning, King said.
Niagara Mohawk restored power to about 250 customers in the Cobleskill area, company spokesman Alberto Bianchetti said.
Delaware Electric Co-op had restored power to all of its customers by 11:30 p.m. Monday night, according to Wayne Marshfield, assistant manager.
