ONEONTA The brothers of Alpha Chi Rho will hold their 14th annual Easter egg hunt for community children this Saturday at noon in Oneonta's Wilber Park, rain or shine, fraternity president Ryan Webler said. Because of inaccurate information sent to the newspaper, he said, the event was originally reported to be scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday.
About 20 people who went to Wilber Park for the event on Friday called The Daily Star, employees said. Several callers reported that 150 children had turned out for the event.
Otsego judge tosses indictment
COOPERSTOWN - An indictment of Edward R. Conklin, handed up by an Otsego County grand jury Dec. 17, has been dismissed by Otsego County Judge Michael Coccoma.
Conklin had been charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. The indictment had charged him with possessing one-eighth of an ounce or more of methamphetamine with intent to sell on Oct. 31 in the village of Richfield Springs.
In a decision filed with the Otsego County Court Clerk's Office on Wednesday, Coccoma wrote that after reviewing grand jury minutes, he determined that "even viewing the evidence in the light most favorable to the people, the evidence is insufficient to support the indictment and would not warrant a conviction."
The dismissal had been sought by Conklin's attorney, James P. Ferrari, and opposed by former Otsego County Chief Assistant District Attorney Richard E. Brown.
Coccoma said that the Otsego County District Attorney's Office may try again to indict Conklin, who remains in jail on $25,000 bail.

Wormuth was arraigned in the town of Hancock Justice Court and taken to the Delaware County Correctional Facility, where he is being held on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
Three hurt in two-car crash
MIDDLEFIELD A two-car collision sent three to the hospital Thursday morning, according to the Otsego County Sheriff's Department.
Marvin J. Mulford, 56, and Gerald D. Brown, 24, were taken to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown for leg injuries, deputies said. Brown's 3-year-old son, name unavailable, was taken to Bassett Hospital for a cut to the head area, deputies said. Bassett officials said Mulford and Brown were treated and released.
Mulford, of Fly Creek, was eastbound on county Route 52 when he was struck head-on by a vehicle, driven by Brown, that had crossed into Mulford's path, deputies said.
Brown, of Schenevus, was issued a ticket for failure to keep right, deputies said.

Voters approve $1.2M bus garage
STAMFORD District residents voted Wednesday to approve the purchase of a $1.2 million bus garage for the Stamford school district.
The garage was approved by a vote of 98 to 23, with two votes that were void, Stamford Central School District Superintendent Joe Beck said.
Beck said the garage was voted in almost three years ago, but the bids on the project were too high at the time so the district sat on it.
The project will not increase any spending to the district budget for 2003-04, Beck said.
