{"headline18"/}Man charged with drug sale

A Deposit man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly selling narcotics, according to Delaware County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies charged Kamal R. Khawaja, 20, with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.

Deputies said Khawaja sold narcotics twice in Hancock.

Khawaja was sent to the Delaware County jail without bail. He will be arraigned today in Delaware County Court.

Deputies said they had assistance from the Delaware County Probation Department, Hancock and Deposit police departments, and New York City Department of Environmental Protection police.

{"headline18"/}Teen arrested in Oneonta

ONEONTA _ An Oneonta teen was arrested Thursday after a joint investigation with state police in Oneonta into several burglaries at Interskate 88, Otsego deputies said.

Albert E. Sternberg, 16, was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor, deputies said.

Investigations revealed the following, deputies said: During the April incidents, Sternberg jimmied open a door and stole a small amount of loose change; and on May 16, he threw a large rock through the front door and stole the business’ cash register, which was found across the road from the roller rink.

{"headline18"/}NYSEG project set in city

ONEONTA _ A NYSEG contractor, E.E. Root, will begin replacing the natural gas main and all services Tuesday on Washington Street in Oneonta, according to a media release.

The New YOrk State Electric & Gas Corp. project is expected to take up to four weeks, and the street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project.
