Lisa (Alex) Miller was born in Minneapolis but moved to
Oneonta before her first birthday. She graduated from Oneonta
High School in 1988 and Tufts University in 1992.
Miller served as editor in chief of the OHS Echo for two years
and wrote for her college newspaper, the Tufts Daily. She
began working at The Daily Star in 1992 as a reporter covering
the health, education and city police beats. In 1993, she won a
third-place award for feature writing from the New York State
Associated Press Association. She left reporting in 1996 and became
The Daily Star's community news editor. In 2002, Miller received an
honorable mention award for column writing from the New York State
Associated Press Association. She served as community editor until
June 2003, when she left The Star to spend more time with her family
and work as a freelance writer.
Miller lives in Oneonta with her husband, Stephen, and
daughters, Abby and Allison. She enjoys running, reading, cooking and
writing short stories.
