U.N. needs a new home
It’s time for the United Nations to pack up and leave. Last week should have shown why it no longer deserves to be located here.
President Bush gives an excellent speech about democracy, human rights and spreading freedom, and he gets a very light applause.
Then the little tinhorn buffoon of a dictator from Venezuela gets up and tries to be a Robin Williams with his comedic speech; and every time he insults President Bush, our county or Israel, he gets a laugh
from the General Assembly.
Then, not to be outdone, the mentally unstable "elected" leader of Iran gets up and accuses the U.S. of war crimes, among other things.
This mental shrimp is merely a puppet of the Islamofascist mullahs and nothing more. If you look closely, you can see the strings attached to him, being pulled by these religious zealots.
Remember, these are the fools who determined which candidates were to be allowed to run for office, removing hundreds of 'undesirable' individuals from the ballot.
Then to further rub salt into the wound, the assembly gives them both very loud and sustained ovations.
I’m sick and tired of being insulted by these Third World despots and being their welfare agency.
The United States is assessed 22 percent of the entire U.N. budget, in addition to having contributed both the land and the U.N. building upon which it sits.
Do you think we get much of a say in the development of the U.N.’s budget Think again. Of the 192 countries that make up the General Assembly, 85 pay the minimum assessment of .01 percent (yes, that’s one one-hundreths of 1 percent) and another 13
countries each pay .02 percent.
That means the majority of the General Assembly votes are made up of those countries that pay slightly more than 1 percent of the entire budget of the U.N.! And yet, this majority pretty much determines
how much and where the finances end up. Basically, the American taxpayer is financing all the little pet
projects of Third World dictators. · · · ·
Don’t feel sorry for these poor, little Third World
countries. Although their people may be poor and we
should feel sorry for their condition, their elite
certainly aren’t. ·
Most of the U.N. funds dedicated to “projects”
end up in the pockets of these privileged few.
Do you think the liberals raise a stink about this
inequity No way. This could be made no clearer than
when one of the leaders of the Hollywood Socialists,
Danny Glover, made a fool of himself when he
publicly and repeatedly embraced little Hugo.
Maybe Glover’s reading tutor should read to him
all the human-rights abuses going on in his hero’s
country. Wise up, Danny. Go back to school and try
again. You obviously failed the first time around Let’s
not forget about the anti-Israeli, anti-America bias. Of
the more-than 700 General Assembly resolutions
passed, almost 480 condemn Israel.
The same holds true in the Security Council,
made up of both permanent and nonpermanent
members. From the very beginning, of 135 Security
Council resolutions passed, 90 were anti-Israel.
Do you think the U.S. fares any better Think
again. Our Middle East “allies” consistently vote ·
against us. Kuwait 86 percent of the time and UAE,
Qatar and Jordan 89 percent of the time.
Remember, we send Jordan $192 million a year.
Egypt votes against us 86 percent of the time and we
give it $2 billion a year! ·· · · ·
And don’t forget our Saudi friends. They are
against us 90 percent of the time. The list goes on and
Israel, on the other hand, consistently votes with
us more than 90 percent of the time.
Don’t even start about corruption. Type in “U.N.
corruption” on your computer and you get almost 14 ·
million hits. ·
Everybody knows about the oil-for-food scandal
and Kofi’s son’s involvement. Remember the United
Nations Interim Force in Lebanon During the latest
Israeli retaliation, this group actually posted on its
website Israel Defense Forces movements, strength
and amount of material involved.
All this was posted within 30 minutes of it
happening. I’ll bet Hezbollah forces found this useful.
On the other hand, not one bit of intelligence of
terrorist action was reported.
You can’t convince me of the economic hardships
that the U.S. would go through if the U.N. moved out.
U.N. bureaucrats, in addition to their extremely high
salaries and low productivity, get unbelievable
fringes. Monthly rent subsidies of $3,800, education
grants of $13,000 per child and many, many others.
Remember, we are paying for 22 percent of these
costs.
So, where do we move them to Downtown
Damascus would be nice. How about North Korea or
even the area the Palestinians currently occupy
I can just imagine all of these elite bureaucrats
enjoying the many cultural offerings of these places,
as long as they don’t forget to dodge the
suicide/homicide bombers. ·
