O-State women win 12th straight

ONEONTA — The Oneonta State women's basketball team led from start to finish against Cazenovia on Wednesday in a 66-39 non-conference triumph at Alumni Fieldhouse.

The victory marked the Red Dragons' 12th in a row, putting O-State at 14-1 on the season.

Kristen Hall, who had eight rebounds, led all scorers for Oneonta with 14 points. Teammate Paula Polce had 13 points and Robyn Watson scored 12.

Val Titus had a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds for Cazenovia (6-10), which shot 14-for-53 (26 percent) from the field. The Red Dragons shot 26-for-71 (37 percent).

Cazenovia also turned the ball over 34 times, 20 more than O-State.

Wrestling

O-State 27, Cortland 12

ONEONTA—After falling behind 9-0, the Red Dragons won the next seven matches for a SUNYAC victory.

Dave Stano's 11-7 heavyweight decision over Jason Lichtenstein started the run for O-State, which improved to 3-10 this winter. Stano, who usually wrestles at 184 pounds, made the overall score 9-3 with the victory.

Greg Winn followed with a major decision at 125 pounds. Rubin Prophete (133), Anthony Carbone (141), Luke Nocera (149)and Blaire Surgent (157) had decisions before Derek Joines capped the O-State scoring with a pin in 2:44 at 165 pounds.

O-State, which dropped Cortland to 6-6, wrestles in a dual meet at Oswego at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
