SUNY-Cobleskill names Fighting Tiger athletes of the week

Senior women's cross country runner Kristy VanCour and men's soccer freshman Erik Greb have been named SUNY-Cobleskill's athletes of the week.

VanCour, a senior NJCAA All-American, became the second female runner in conference history with back-to-back conference individual championships last weekend.

She finished a 5-kilometer-plus course in 17 minutes and 48 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in Cobleskill course history and the fastest by a Fighting Tiger.

Cobleskill is ranked in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll and will compete at the NJCAA Region III Championships in Delhi on Oct. 27.

Goalkeeper Greb had 21 saves in losses to Broome Community College, 3-0, and Morrisville, 2-0.

It was the second time this season the Greb has earned athlete of the week honors.

The Fighting Tigers closed the 2001 season with a 6-8 overall record, including a 3-5 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play.
