UV wins to set up match at Unatego

Danielle and Alyssa Walbrecht scored for the Storm on Tuesday in its 2-1 Section Four Class C first-round girls soccer victory over visiting Delhi.
Danielle's goal midway through the second half gave Unadilla Valley a 2-0 lead off a crossing pass from Sara Gronwall.
The Bulldogs (8-8-1) cut the deficit to 2-1 on a penalty kick by Amber Sohns with 3:52 to play.
Alyssa Walbrecht, who scored 27 minutes into play, injured her left knee in the first half. UV coach Chris Bieniek said she did not know the extent of Walbrecht's injury.
Fifth-seeded UV will play at No. 4-seed Unatego at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The Blue Raiders scored less than two minutes into each half to oust visiting B-G from the Class C playoffs.
Colleen Masterson's goal 1:35 into the second half broke a 1-all tie. She knocked in a rebound that was partially deflected by B-G goalie Ashley Smith.
B-G's Dawn Jorett tied the score at 1 eight minutes into play. She volleyed a corner kick by Leah DuMond.
The seventh-seeded Bobcats (9-5-2) had eight corner kicks.
"We had beautiful corner kicks," B-G coach George Williams said. "Dawn headed three of them, but we just couldn't get it in."
Trumansburg (8-6-1) will play at Elmira Notre Dame on Friday.

The Patriots kept second-seeded Elmira Notre Dame off the scoreboard until late in the first half, when Marissa Ruda scored the first of her two goals, at Johnson City.
Natalie Frost's crossing pass set up Ruda, who tapped it in from close range with 1:18 before halftime.
"Up until then, we played awesome," CV-S coach Theri Jo Climenhaga said. "That put a damper on it going into halftime."
Brandi Ostrander made 17 saves for CV-S, which ends the season at 10-7-1.

Geri Genzardi volleyed in a pass from Nichole Decker with 15 minutes, 26 seconds left as fourth-seeded Unatego defeated 13th- seeded Southern Cayuga.
Southern Cayuga scored first on Heather Philip's goal with 20:13 left in the first half. Calli-Jo Sheldon tied it with 12:11 left in the first on a high shot that went through the goalie's hands.
Unatego plays fifth-seeded Unadilla Valley on Friday.

Sidney plays at third-seeded Candor, which defeated Greene, 3-1, on Friday.

Jenna Bernhardt's throw in that nearly reached the goal mouth set up Jackie Gray's goal 10 1/2 minutes into Margaretville's first-round Class D victory over visiting Edmeston.
"Jenna has a very big throw in," Margaretville coach Dan Cohen said. "She's an offensive threat for us because of that."
Gray let the pass bounce once before scoring.
Each team took 12 shots in what Cohen said was an evenly played match.
Margaretville will play at second-seeded Stamford at 3:30 p.m. Friday in a quarterfinal.

Julie Maisonave lofted a shot in from a tough angle with 34 seconds left as host Windham defeated ninth-seeded Jefferson.
"Our whole team rushed at her and collapsed on her," said Windham coach John Valenti, whose team was seeded eighth. "(Coach Bob Prevosti and I) were screaming at them to get back in our end because we were afraid of being penalized for excessive celebration."
Maisonave's goal, her 11th of the season, ended a back-and-forth game in which the teams combined for 35 shots, 23 by Windham.
"I figured we'd still be out there now with the headlights shining on the field, shooting penalty kicks." Valenti said.
Jefferson's Rose Cunningham made 20 saves.
"(Cunningham) played a hell of a game," Valenti said.
Windham plays top-seeded G-MU at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Katie Andrews headed in the decisive goal off a corner kick by Ashley Smith with 6:34 left in the first half, lifting host Laurens to a first-round victory in the Section Four Class D Tournament.
Fifth-seeded Laurens (10-4-3) advances to Friday's quarterfinals at No. 4 Davenport (12-5-1). The Wildcats beat Laurens, 4-1, in the season opener for both teams this fall.
Smith added to Laurens' lead with 28:19 to play, starting with a corner kick. Hannah Tirado controlled the pass in, then fed it back to Smith, who crossed a long shot into the far corner for her first goal of the season.
"She hit it from out beyond the side of the penalty box and put it in the far post," Laurens coach Bonnie Johnson said. "It was beautiful."
Ashleigh Mix had four saves for her sixth shutout. Allison Pinney stopped 10 shots for No. 12 Franklin (7-9-2).

Jamie Barber finished a double-assist fewer than two minutes later. Jennifer Beams crossed a pass to Lia Blue, who touched it to Barber to set up the final goal.
Davenport outshot the Indians, 24-1, helping Jessica Hoffman to the shutout. No. 13 O-M finished the season at 3-15.

Delhi competes in the sectionals Thursday at Lansing.
