OHS graduate scored winner for St. Rose
Afton's Noyes sets up decisive field hockey goal in Cortland upset

Oneonta High graduate Laura Erbe scored the winning goal to lead The College of Saint Rose to a 2-1 home victory over 10th-ranked Merrimack in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer match on Oct. 20 at Albany Academy.
The score stood 1-1 at halftime, but Saint Rose carried play throughout the early stages of the second stanza. The charge paid off when Erbe one-timed a pass from freshman midfielder Renae Ransdell into the net at the 49-minute mark.
Erbe, who has four goals and two assists, is a senior midfielder. She was named Saint Rose's Athlete of the Week for her play against Merrimack.
Saint Rose (9-4-1, 7-4-1), ranked fifth in New England, has won four straight and five of its last six.
Jeanine Barber
Delhi graduate Barber had 14 assists and 11 digs in Wilkes University's 30-21, 30-18, 30-20 volleyball loss to King's College last week. Wilkes had an 8-10 record.
Rick Clark
Clark, an Edmeston graduate, had a goal and an assist to help Cortland State's men's soccer team to an 8-0 victory over Utica/Rome on Oct. 5. Cortland State (11-5-1) is 6-3 in SUNYAC.
Lindsay LaRose
Oneonta High graduate LaRose, a sophomore on the Wellesley (Mass.) College cross country team, earned All-Seven Sisters honors after placing third at the Seven Sisters Championship at Haverford (Pa.) College.
LaRose, who covered the 5,000-meter course in 18:47, earned the accolade for the second straight year. Last year, she placed seventh in 19:01.
The first 10 individuals were named All-Seven Sisters. Wellesley finished fourth with 101 team points in the seven-team field. Host Haverford won the event for the second straight year with 33 points.
Amanda Laytham
Unatego graduate Laytham's second-place finish at last Saturday's Saratoga Invitational helped Ithaca College to the team title in the nine-team, cross-country race. Laytham completed the 3.1-mile course in 18:12.
Jesse Morenus
Unadilla resident Morenus won two swimming events for Binghamton University in its season-opening victory over Vermont. Morenus won the 500 free in 4:56.76 and the 1,000 free in 10:18.21.
Andi Noyes
Afton graduate Noyes set up the winning goal in Cortland State's 2-1 field hockey victory over top-ranked The College of New Jersey on Oct. 21. Noyes, a senior, passed the ball into the box. Julie Genter took a shot and Ashley Ostrander knocked in the rebound to snap a 1-all tie.
Noyes also had a goal and an assist in a 5-0 victory over Geneseo on Oct. 16. The Red Dragons (15-2) are ranked second nationally in Division III.
