Basketball coaches clinic at Hartwick

The Hartwick College women's basketball coaching staff will hold a basketball coaches clinic from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Hartwick's Binder Gymnasium.

Deadline for registration is today. Cost is $25 and checks should be made to the Hartwick College Women's Basketball Team. Registrations will be accepted the day of the clinic at $35.

Participants will receive instruction from Hartwick head coach Daphne Thompson and assistant coaches Brandi Munn and Deborah Liddle. Those attending will receive a coaching packet, but packets are not guaranteed for clinic-day registrants.

SUNYAC volleyball finals at Cortland

Cortland State will play host to the 18th annual SUNY Athletic Conference volleyball tournament, which runs Friday and Saturday.

Cortland is the top seed in the East and Brockport is No. 1 in the West. Cortland is unbeaten in the SUNYAC this fall, at 10-0, and is seeking its sixth straight league title.

Oneonta State, which finished 5-5 in pool play after two rounds of SUNYAC qualifiers, is the No. 3 seed in the East.

Buffalo State plays the opener against Plattsburgh at 3 p.m. on Friday. O-State follows at 5 p.m. against Geneseo. Matches continue Saturday with the Buffalo State-Plattsburgh winner playing Cortland at 11 a.m. and the O-State-Geneseo winner playing Brockport at 1:30 p.m.

The SUNYAC championship is slated for 4 p.m. on Saturday.


Delhi Tech to hold half-court shot contest

Delhi Tech will play host to its $500 half-court shot contest during halftime of the Broncos men's tip-off classic against Corning Community College at 8 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the Farrell Hall Gymnasium.

Three randomly selected fans will have the chance to win $500 cash by sinking a half-court shot. Contestants who miss will have the opportunity to win $100 on a three-pointer and $50 on a free throw. All contestants will receive a Delhi sweatsuit.

The first 50 children at the game will receive Delhi basketball hats. Admission is free to all home games. For more information, call Delhi's athletic department at 746-4675.

Cobleskill's VanCour receives honor

SUNY-Cobleskill women's cross country runner Kristy VanCour has been named the NJCAA Region III Female Athlete-Of-The-Week by the region's bureau.

VanCour, a senior, won her second consecutive Mountain Valley Conference individual championship by completing the 5-kilometer-plus course at Cobleskill in 17 minutes, 48 seconds. Her time was the second fastest in course history.

Cobleskill soccer players earn MVC honors

The Mountain Valley Conference men's soccer coaches named SUNY-Cobleskill freshman goalkeeper Erik Greb and senior defender Lucas Lownes to its second team.

Greb and Lownes led the Fighting Tigers to a 6-8 record and a 3-5 league mark.
