Kristen Karhio's layup with just over a minute left gave Cherry Valley-Springfield a 57-56 lead and the host Patriots went on to a Tri-Valley League victory. Brandi Ostrander scored a varsity-high 28 points and Karhio had 12 for the winners, who play at Franklin on Jan. 30.
Ostrander, who shot 12-for-19 from the floor and had seven steals, scored eight points in the third quarter, helping the Patriots to a 47-42 lead, heading into the final quarter.
Erica VanWormer scored 18 points for Worcester.

Heather Russell scored nine of her game-high 14 points in the first quarter to lead visiting Margaretville to a victory in the Delaware League.
Russell also grabbed nine rebounds and made 6 of 7 free-throw attempts.
"She really set the pace in the first quarter. Once she gets it going she is tough to stop," said Downsville coach Kyle Emerich of Russell.
Mallory Mattson led the Purple Eagles with eight points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds.

Morris 60, G-MU 52, OT
Morris overcame overcame 38 points from Shelly Miles to defeat host Gilbertsville-Mount Upton in overtime for a key Tri-Valley League victory.
Morris' Alyson Kristofik tied the game at 48-all with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter. Miles had a chance to win the game in regulation, but her 12-foot jumper rimmed out.
"I thought it was going in," G-MU coach Jim Johnson said.
In overtime, Morris' Annie Armstrong scored the first five points and G-MU was never able to come back. Armstrong and Jen Bogert both finished with 15 points for Morris (10-3, 6-1). Kristofik had 1 points.

Elizabeth Rappleyea had a season-high 15 points and the host Rams held H-T to a season-low 16 points in a Delaware League victory.
"They were cold," South Kortright coach Harry Nissen said. "We were playing good defense, but they couldn't buy a basket."
Nissen said he was especially pleased with his team's performance considering Ashlei Kenchen sat out the entire second quarter after picking up her third foul late in the first. Kenchen finished with a season-low five points.
The Rams, the second-ranked team in Class D, improved to 14-0, 10-0 in the league.
Violet Ramos led Hunter-Tannersville (10-4, 6-4) with six points.

Toby Umbra's 620 series and a 613 set from Mark Kendrick lifted Sidney's boys to a 7-0 MAC defeat of Hancock at 20th Century Lanes. Kendrick finished with the high game of 224 for Sidney, which had its second-highest totals for single-game pinfall (1,019 in first) and overall pinfall (2,828). Rosemary Gregory paced Sidney's girls to a 7-0 victory as well. She rolled a 226 en route to a 607 set.

Cooperstown improved to 5-0 after defeating S-E, which came to the meet with three swimmers. The Redskins play host to Afton next Friday.
