Spartans thwart Sidney
Staff Report
John Leech's 100th varsity victory helped host Unatego defeat Sidney, 52-18, Wednesday night.
Leech, a sophomore, won by technical fall over Patrick Cole at 125 pounds.
"He ate him up from the beginning," Unatego coach John Nealis said. "John had a hard time turning him over at the beginning but he kind of wore him out."
"(Leech) doesn't get a lot of credit because of the other guys we have," added Nealis. "He's a three-time sectional placewinner, and we can count on him to be a finalist in most of the tournaments we compete in. He just does everything intelligently."
James Leech and Mike Hill also won by pin for the Spartans (5-3-1). Matt Leech, Andrew Sherwood and Jake Fairbairn won by decision.
Brad Soroka and Brandon Clapperton won by pin for Sidney.
Unatego wrestles Delhi at home today. It will be its third match in three days.
