Yellowjackets' boys win 10th straight
Stamford tops Roxbury; Cooperstown wins big

Geoff Bean finished with a double-double and Garrett Brignoli scored a game-high 16 points as the Oneonta High boys basketball team won its 10th consecutive game with a 67-46 defeat of visiting Chenango Valley on Friday.
The Yellowjackets improved to 14-1 overall and 10-1 in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.
"It looks like we're on track for Feb. 8," OHS coach Jerry Mackey said of a STAC game at Norwich, the only team to defeat the Yellowjackets this season.
Bean finished with 12 rebounds, 10 points and six assists for OHS, which took a 27-19 lead into halftime and took a commanding 49-32 advantage after three quarters.
Drew Martin converted three 3-pointers and contributed 15 points for the Yellowjackets, who received a game-high 13 rebounds from Mike Konstanty.
Oneonta plays a STAC game at Johnson City on Tuesday.

Shane Derry went 8-for-12 from the field en route to a game-high 23 points as Stamford extended its winning streak to five with a Delaware League victcory over visiting Roxbury.
"I was pleased with our effort," Stamford coach Greg O'Connell said. "We played hard for all 32 minutes for once. We shot better and played good team defense."
Brian McMahon scored seven of his 11 points in the second quarter, when Stamford extended a 23-19 first quarter lead to 45-30.
Paddy Power had 19 points, Josh Sutton 11 and Chris Gaddis 10 for the Indians, who had their second highest scoring output of the season.
"We've been spending a great deal of time on shooting in practice," O'Connell said. "I could write a book on how many shooting drills we've done. We shot 45 percent from the field, which may be our highest all year. It's starting to come together."
Stamford plays at Davenport on Tuesday.
Chris Cole and Beau Ballard had 10 points apiece for Roxbury.

Shane Connolly scored 13 of his game-high 23 points in the first quarter in Cooperstown's Center State Conference victory at Sauquoit.
Connolly hit both of his 3-pointers in the first quarter, which ended with the Redskins on top, 23-8.
Jeremy Holmes scored 14 points and Paul Leonard 12 for Cooperstown, which plays host to Hamilton on Monday.
Nick Laskovsky had nine rebounds and Andy Dickan five assists for the winners.

Perhaps concerned after South Kortright's unbeaten girls season ended Thursday night with a loss to Davenport, the host Eagles (14-0) left nothing chance.
Kevin Reed personally outscored Windham in the first half, scoring 18 of his game-high 29 points, as Downsville forged a 59-14 lead.
Reed also had 14 rebounds and six assists.
"I'm sure it is," Downsville coach Jeff Baier said when asked if 115 points was a school record.
Joining Reed in double-figures were Kyle Emerich (18), James Brunner (15), Derick Peaster (12) and Jeremy Keesler (12).
Brunner also had 14 assists for the Eagles, who play at Jefferson on Tuesday.
Evan Spero had 10 points for Windham.

Nick Laing scored nine of his game-high 21 points in the second quarter as South Kortright defeated host Davenport in a Delaware League game.
South Kortright outscored Davenport, 19-7, in the second quarter to build a 32-17 halftime lead.
"They hurt us on the boards, and Laing was definitely the difference, especially in that second quarter," Davenport coach Todd Bruce said.
Mike Swantak scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers, and Dana White added 11 points and a game-high 17 rebounds for South Kortright. Jamey Parslow led Davenport with 15 points.
