Antonio Bencosme's 25 points led a balanced Delhi Tech attack as the Broncos won at Fulton-Montgomery CC on Saturday.

Aquawasi St. Hillaire added 17 points and 16 rebounds for Delhi Tech, which improved to 17-1. Stanley Bolden contributed 15 points and 13 assists.

The Broncos visit Schenectady CC tonight.

Aaron Berwanger scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and the visiting Cardinals withstood a late rally to win an Empire 8 game at Hartwick on Saturday.

Fisher (8-8, 3-3) led, 58-45, with four minutes, 55 seconds left, but Hartwick went on a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to 60-57 with 22 seconds left. Hartwick's Nate Cramer made a layup with 11 seconds left to make it 62-59, and after two missed free throws by St. John Fisher, Hartwick had a chance to tie, but missed a 3-pointer.

Joel Blackwell had 15 points and nine rebounds and Cramer 13 points and seven rebounds for Hartwick (4-13, 1-5). Delhi graduate Mike Shultis had 11 points.

Hartwick will play at Ithaca at 8 p.m. Friday.

Trisha Tofany scored 20 points and St. John Fisher forced 33 turnovers Saturday in an Empire 8 women's basketball victory at Hartwick.

Kristin Mayer had 11 points for Fisher (12-4, 5-1), which led, 25-24, at halftime and increased its margin to 11 with 13 minutes left.

Oneonta graduate Tiffany Hurley scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Hawks.

Sara Lambert had 10 points for Hartwick (9-7, 4-2), which travels to Ithaca at 6 p.m. Friday.

Swimming and Diving

Chris Maiello won two races in his last home meet to lead the Hartwick men's team to a 141-75 victory over visiting St. Lawrence.

Danielle Moreau and Tara Griffith each won two races as Hartwick's women won, 147-83.

Maiello, an All-American in the 200-yard freestyle last year, won the 100 free (48.27 seconds) and the 200 free (1:46.14). Teammate John Brennan won the 100 backstroke (59.23), the 500 free (5:09.53) and the 1,000 free (10:23.50) for the Hawks (6-6).

Miguel Vargas won the 50 free (22.14) and 100 butterfly (52.98), Robert Nelson won the 200 individual medley and Oneonta High graduate Adam Torrey won the 100 breaststroke for Hartwick.

Oneonta High graduates Erica Torrey and Tara Rothenberger, each in their final home meet, helped the 200 medley relay team to victory.

Delhi Invitational

Cobleskill's Heather Frees set a pool and conference record with a time of 11 minutes, 56.01 seconds in the 1,000 freestyle at Saturday's Delhi Invitational.

Monroe Community College won both the men's and women's competitions.

On the women's side, Delhi Tech finished third out of seven teams with 149 points and Cobleskill sixth with 70. MCC had 464.

Frees also took second in the 500 free with a 5:51.16.

Delhi's April Matott was second in diving with 147.10 points.

On the men's side, Delhi was third of seven teams with 140 points and Cobleskill seventh with 57. MCC won with 481 points.

Delhi's Adam VanValkenburgh took third in three-meter diving with 136.10 points.

Delhi will compete in a tri-meet at Morrisville on Wednesday.

Bison Open

Sheri Kelleher had the fastest time in the 200 meters and took fifth place in the 55 dash for the Hartwick College women Saturday at Bucknell University's Bison Open.

Running against Division I teams, Kelleher ran the second heat of the 200 and won it with a time of 26.83 seconds.

St. Lawrence Invitational

Oneonta State's men's and women's teams each placed fifth Saturday at the St. Lawrence Invitational.

The men were led by freshman Dan Cain, who placed second in the 55-meter dash in a SUNYAC qualifying time of 6.74 seconds. Sophomore Chris Smith ran personal-bests in the 55 dash (7.08) and the 200 (24.14).

Kelly Stevens led the women's team, placing second in the 800 in 2:29.83. Sophomore Rose Velan took fourth in the 400 in a personal-best 1:02.59.

Jill Mastrella hit the SUNYAC standard in the 200 meters with a time of :29.41. Senior Autumn Koich also hit the SUNYAC standard with a throw of 30 feet, nine inches in the 20-pound weight throw. She placed sixth.

Oswego 28, O-State 18

Oswego senior Jeff Holmes pinned Blaire Surgent in the second period of their 174-pound match to help the Lakers defeat host Oneonta State on Saturday.

Oswego (5-7) won six of 10 matches, including heavyweight Gino Giannettino's major decision over Matt Rocco that gave the Lakers a 23-9 lead.

Freshmen Nick Castellano and Dustin Winn each won by pin for Red Dragons.

Junior Greg Winn, Dustin's brother, defeated Torbilo Garcia, 8-6, in overtime at 125 pounds.

The Red Dragons (7-6) will play host to Ithaca College at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
