JC latest victim of Oneonta boys

Roxbury, SK win

Drew Martin keyed Oneonta High's 11th consecutive victory on Tuesday as the Yellowjackets boys basketball team defeated Johnson City, 63-54, in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.

Martin scored a game-high 26 points, going 12-for-13 from the free throw line in the process, and helped to limit JC leader Jon Ruminski to four points. Ruminski entered the game averaging around 18 points in the STAC.

Mike Konstanty contributed 16 points and Garrett Brignoli had 10 as OHS moved to 15-1 overall and 11-1 in the STAC.

Nate Kocak paced the Wildcats with 18 points.

Oneonta will hold its Senior Appreciation Night on Feb. 6 against visiting Owego. Two days later, the Yellowjackets will play at Norwich, which is the only team to top OHS this winter.

Chris Cole scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds in leading Roxbury to a Delaware League victory at home. Brian Perazone contributed 12 points for the Rockets, who fell behind at the half, 31-26, before regaining control with a 26-11 third quarter.

Nick Steinbuch had a team-high 14 points for Andes, which got 13 apiece from Nate Govendo and Jesse Mohr.

Mike Taylor scored a varsity- and game-high 24 points to lead South Kortright (13-3, 11-2) to a home victory in the Delaware League. Mike Swantak and Dana White contributed 21 and 10 points, respectively, for the Rams, who play at Andes on Thursday.

Zak Hill hit three 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 19 points for Gilboa, which received 15 from James Cudemo.

Kevin Reed's 22 points led Downsville to a Delaware League victory at Jefferson. Kyle Emerich and Derrick Peaster had 14 points apiece for the Eagles, who improved to 15-0, 11-0 in the league.

Zach Bulka led Jefferson (2-13) with 15 points. The Jayhawks are at Gilboa on Thursday.

Shane Derry led three double-digit scorers for Stamford, scoring 13 points in the Indians; Delaware League victory over host Davenport (7-10, 5-7).

Paddy Power contributed 12 points and Josh Sutton had 11 for Stamford, which shot 15-for-18 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Davenport's Tyrell Hunt tied Derry for game-high scoring accolades. Justin Mole (three 3-pointers) and Adam Briggs contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Wildcats, who received seven steals from Charlie Whitmore.

Davenport plays host to Margaretville on Thursday.
