Unatego defeats Walton

Sidney beats S-E

Aaron Brunner led five double-digit scorers for the visiting Unatego boys basketball team on Wednesday, scoring 18 points in the Spartans' 75-63 victory over Walton in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Nick Pitel contributed 13 points, B.J. Carson had 12 and Luke Dolezel and Justin Harris had 11 apiece for the Spartans, who took an 18-13 lead after one quarter.

"They outhustled us most of the game," said Walton coach Dennis DuMond, who added that Delhi likely clinched Division I of the MAC as a result of Walton's loss. "The outexecuted us."

Robert Beckmann scored a game-high 21 points for Walton (10-7 overall, 7-3 MAC).

Sidney 63, S-E 40

A 28-0 run bridging the first and second quarters led host Sidney to a MAC victory over Sherburne-Earlville.

"That was the best we've shot the ball all year," Sidney coach Mike Brazee said. "We started moving the ball and hitting our 3s and that opened things up for us. Everything was just clicking."

Sidney's Justin Jedik had four 3s and scored all 16 of his points in the first half.

Sidney (5-10) visits Greene on Saturday.
