Sidney boys, girls place second in Section Four indoor track meet

Sidney's Caitlin Graham set a school record and Adam Farrell had a personal best in triple jump competition at the Section Four Class C-D Meet on Friday at Cornell University.

Graham, who also won the 55-meter hurdles, broke her own record with a leap of 36-feet, 1-inch to win the triple jump in Ithaca. Graham's winning jump was 3/4 of an inch longer than her previous record, set in 2000.

Other first-place finishers for the Warriors included Amanda Haney in the high jump, Audrey Ostrander in the pole vault and the 3,200 relay team.

Farrell won the boys triple jump at 45-0 3/4.

"That's three feet over his previous best," Sidney coach Bill Munro said. "He broke 40 feet once last season."

Farrell also won the high jump at 6-4. Teammate Josh DuMond was a double-winner as well, placing first in the 55 hurdles and the long jump. Mike Barber added a first in the shot put.

Sidney finished second to Lansing on both sides in team scoring.

The next event involving Section Four athletes is the March 1 State Qualifier, which involves all classes, at Cornell. The top two individuals and fastest relay team will advance to the State Meet on March 9 at Syracuse's Carrier Dome.
