HARTWICK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Staff Report

Women's water polo goalkeeper Sara Daseler, who reached 300 all-time saves and set a single-game record for stops over the weekend, was named the Hartwick College/McDonald's Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 17.

Daseler helped the Hawks, ranked 14th in the country, to a 2-1 weekend at the Princeton Invitational. She broke her own single-game save record with 18 stops in a five-overtime game against No. 19 Brown University on Saturday; the Hawks won, 11-10.

The previous weekend at the UC-San Diego Invitational, Daseler had 17 saves in a 9-7 victory over UC-San Diego, which is ranked ninth.

Daseler holds every goalkeeper record in Hartwick 's two-year history of the program. After making 214 stops last year as a freshman, she has 88 this season for a 302 total.

Daseler also has 40 steals in two years, second to teammate Sheri Johnson on the all-time list.

The Hawks will compete at the UC-Santa Barbara Gaucho Invite this Saturday and Sunday. Hartwick is 4-5 on the season, with three victories and all five losses against ranked teams.
