Hawks aiming to engineer big upset

Hartwick Football

Staff Report

The Hartwick College football team plays host to undefeated Rensselaer at 1 p.m. Saturday on All-Weather Field.

The Hawks (1-4, 1-3 Empire 8) and Engineers (5-0, 2-0 UCAA) are coming off bye weeks.

Hartwick fell at Alfred University, 41-6, on Oct. 11. The Engineers earned a 33-7 victory over Union the same day.

Rensselaer, which beat the Hawks, 39-38, last year, has won seven of nine all-time meetings.

Against Rensselaer, Hartwick will be tested by the top scoring offense in Upstate New York. The Engineers are averaging 35 points per game, and the Hawks defense has allowed 26.2 points per game.

Among the 14 competing Upstate New York football schools, Hartwick is ranked sixth in rushing defense [an error occurred while processing this directive]
