Sidney wins first playoff game

Defense leads 20-6 defeat of Tioga in 'C' sectionals

High School Football — Section Four Class C Quarterfinal

By Rob Centorani

Staff Writer

SIDNEY — Sidney overcame a lot Friday night en route to winning a Section Four Class C playoff game for the first time in school history.

Sophomore Aaron Zurn rushed for 121 yards and classmate Kyle Morenus threw two touchdown passes in the third-seeded Warriors' 20-6 quarterfinal victory over sixth-seeded Tioga.

But it was Sidney's undermanned defense that sealed this one. The Warriors played without starting linebackers Sean Wood and Jesse Barnes, who were injured in last Friday's 42-6 loss to Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton.
