Cobleskill earns second seed for Region III tourney

The NJCAA Region III Men’s Basketball Tournament begins Tuesday with first-round games. Eleven teams have reached the regional tournament.
Mohawk Valley CC (22-6) earned the top seed in this tournament and will play host to the final eight teams this weekend.
Four games start at 1 p.m. Friday. The semifinals are slated for 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday and the championship for 1 p.m. Sunday.
The tournament winner earns a berth into the NJCAA Division III Championship on March 17-19 at Delhi Tech.
Cobleskill (26-4), ranked second in the latest NJCAA poll, is seeded second. Defending Region III champion Cayuga (20-10) is third an[an error occurred while processing this directive]d Delhi Tech (18-9) is fourth.
The Fighting Tigers play their first game at 1 p.m. Friday against the winner of No. 7 Jefferson CC (16-12) and No. 10 Hudson Valley CC (15-13).
Delhi opens against No. 5 North Country (20-5) at 6 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals.

Nationals at Delhi
Delhi Tech will play host to the NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship for the 15th consecutive year March 17-19. It will be the first tournament held at Delhi’s Floyd L. Maines Arena.
Eight teams from across the country will qualify for the tournament and each team plays once daily. Game times each day will be 1, 3, 6, and 8 p.m. The national championship is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 19.
Delhi also will invite the best basketball players from local high schools to compete for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a student from the winning player’s school district. The shootout is held at halftime of each tournament game and the final is slated for halftime of the championship.
Tournament passes can be purchased at Wickham’s in Delhi, the Delhi athletic department and the Delaware Chamber of Commerce in Delhi. Tournament passes are $20 for adults and $15 for students.
