O-State baseball gets revenge after first SUNYAC loss
Softball splits with first-place Cortland

Oswego scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 5-4 victory over visiting Oneonta State in the first game of a SUNY Athletic Conference baseball double-header Sunday.
It was the first conference loss of the spring for the Red Dragons, who won the second game, 3-1. O-State (25-6-1, 11-1) plays at Cortland for a double-header at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Cortland is 27-4-1 overall and leads the SUNYAC with a 12-0 record.
O-State led, 4-1, entering the bottom of the sixth in the opener, but the Lakers had two singles and a walk to open the inning. Rob Burke followed with a three-run double to tie the score. After advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt from Jim Miner, Burke sc[an error occurred while processing this directive]ored when Dave Johnson hit the ball to right field but was thrown out at first by Greg Sulz.
The Red Dragons had runners on third in the seventh and eighth innings with two out, but failed to score. Anthony Suhadolnik struck out with runners on second and third in the seventh and Mike VanPatten popped out to the third baseman in foul territory with runners at the corners in the eighth.
Adam Harendza pitched 3 1/3 innings of two-hit relief to earn the victory for Oswego (12-11, 4-8).
Tom Locke (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing five runs on seven hits. Brandon Galutz had two hits to lead the Red Dragons.
O-State rebounded in the second game, scoring two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth for the victory.
Erik Weber (Bainbridge-Guilford) allowed one run on five hits in 8 2/3 innings to help the Red Dragons to improve to 5-0 this season. Greg Funck pitched a third of an inning, striking out one, to earn his fourth save.
Trailing, 1-0, entering the eighth, Galutz led off with a double. He advanced to third when Sulz grounded out to the pitcher. After Chris Salamida was intentionally walked and stole second, Brent Tortarella singled to score Galutz and Salamida for a 2-1 lead.
O-State added a run in the ninth on an RBI-single from Thomas Colt.

Softball

Michelle Norwich and Meghan Martin each drove a run in the top of the ninth inning to lead visiting Oneonta State to a 2-0 victory in the opener of a SUNYAC double-header Saturday.
Rena Finsmith led off the ninth with a double and scored when Norwich singled up the middle.
After O-State loaded the bases, Martin flew out to center, plating Norwich.
Amy Herba (10-4) pitched a seven-hitter for Oneonta, striking out four and walking four. Four of the hits came after the seventh inning.
Stephanie Adamshick had a no-hitter through six, but Norwich broke it up with a single to lead off the seventh. Adamshick finished with a four-hitter and 10 strikeouts.
Shara Evanter and Jen Rockwell homered in the second game for Cortland (25-8, 13-1), which is first in the SUNYAC. Jamie Neuner had three hits, and Rockwell and Nicole Fredericks had two apiece.
Kacie Cunningham (4-8) suffered the loss for O-State, allowing eight runs on eight hits. She struck out two and walked one.
O-State (14-12, 9-5) plays host to New Paltz for a SUNYAC double-header at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
