Elmira Invitational
Eric Scharf led Delhi Tech to a team victory at the par-72 Elmira Country Club with a 75 as the Broncos won their second invitational title this season Friday.

Travis Gilbert (77), Erik Thomas (79) and Chris Shultis (84) contributed to Delhi’s 315-stroke finish as the Broncos edged Hartwick by two strokes.

Hartwick got a 75 from Luigi Lanzi and a 76 from Dante Antonini. Justin Harris (Unatego) finished at 82 and Brad Bentley had an 84 for the Hawks, who brought four players to the event. Drew Slocum of Hobart earned medalist honors with a 71.

Shaun Marcellus shot a 1-over-par 73 to finish second and lead Cobleskill to the team title at the Mountain Valley Conference Championship.

Dan Spano (Schenevus)finished fourth with a 75, and Matt Schulte (Oneonta)finished fifth at 76. Cobleskill is at Ives Hill Country Club against Jefferson CC today.

Cobleskill catcher Tyler Hibsch went 4-for-7 with two doubles and drove in two runs to lead the host Fighting Tigers to a sweep of Morrisville in a Mountain Valley Conference double-header.

In the opener, Cobleskill pitcher Mike Disarno struck out 10 and walked one over seven innings to earn the victory. Mario Checchi had a two-run single in the second for the Fighting Tigers.

In the second game, Matt Young struck out eight and walked one for the victory. He also finished 2-for-3.
