Oneonta Mirabitos win Otsenango Pony title

Chris Hayen scored the winning run Tuesday to lift the Oneonta Mirabitos to a 4-3 victory in eight innings over Unadilla Valley in the Otsenango Pony League championship game.

Hayen walked with one out in the bottom of the eighth and moved to third on a double by Andy Dickson. Mike Teitjen’s grounder back to reliever Kyle Ray was overthrown to first base, allowing Hayen to score the winning run.

Oneonta starting pitcher Teitjen struck out 10, walked none and allowed nine hits and three earned runs in seven innings. Reliever Matt Marcewewicz, who hit a two-run single in the seventh, earned the victory for Oneonta (11-1).

Nate Eastman contributed an RBI single in the seventh as Oneonta scored three times to send the game into extra innings. Dickson we[an error occurred while processing this directive]nt 3-for-5 to pace the Mirabitos.

Unadilla Valley starter Cody Hall struck out seven, walked three and allowed three earned runs in seven innings.

Hall, Todd Wilcox, Matt Potter, and Tyler Wildfier each finished 2-for-4 for UV (10-3).

The annual Otsenango Pony League All-Star game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday at Unadilla Valley Central.

Delaware County Legion jr. title game today

The Delaware County American Legion Junior Baseball Championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Legion Field in Delhi.

Sidney will meet Walton for the title today. Sidney won in 2003 and Walton earned the championship in 2002.

The rain date is Friday.
