O-TIGERS ’05
Staff and Wire Report
The Oneonta Tigers’ game at Aberdeen on Wednesday was delayed by rain and did not end by press time.
Oneonta entered with a 20-12 record, good for first place in the New York-Penn League’s Stedler Division.
The O-Tigers are off today before playing host to Tri-City for a three-game series starting Friday. Saturday’s game starts at 1 p.m. at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown as part of Hall of Fame Weekend. Admission is free.
Detroit sent former O-Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson back down to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday to make room for second baseman Placido Polanco.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Granderson, the NY-Penn MVP in 2002, hit .318 with two homers and four RBIs in six games for Detroit. After starting 6-for-14, Granderson went 1-for-8 in his last two games.
In 97 games this season for Toledo, Granderson is batting .297 with 13 homers and 59 RBIs in 94 games.
Polanco, who Detroit acquired last month from Philadelphia, is hitting .324 with 14 RBIs in 27 games since the trade. He went on the 15-day disabled list July 12 with a strained left hamstring.
