B-G boys, girls to meet Sidney in tournaments

Warriors win first in golf with victory over Harpursville

Two boys and two girls tournaments highlight today’s high school soccer schedule with key Midstate Athletic Conference matches in the season-opening Mang Tournament at Keith Clark Park in Sidney.

Bainbridge-Guilford’s boys take on tournament host Sidney at 7 p.m. today.

Sidney won its first outright MAC title last fall, finishing its 16-3 season with a 2-0 loss to Dryden in the Section Four Class B championship at the Wright National Soccer Campus.

Southern Tier Athletic Conference affiliates Chenango Valley and Windsor meet in the boys opener at 2 p.m.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]The tournament continues with consolation and championship games at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, on Saturday.

Bainbridge-Guilford and Sidney also meet in the girls Mang Tournament at 5 p.m. today. Seton Catholic Central opens at noon against STAC rival Chenango Valley.

Boys and girls matches also will be played today in the Edmeston Tournament.

Morris and Davenport open boys play at 10 a.m. today, followed by Cherry Valley-Springfield and Edmeston at noon.

Stamford’s girls play Unadilla Valley at 2 p.m., with Margaretville and Edmeston to follow at 4 p.m.

The girls consolation of the Edmeston Tournament is slated for 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a noon championship.

Boys follow at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

Golf

at Sidney Country Club

Mike Pendorf shot a 4-over-par 40 on the front nine of the Sidney Country Club to lead Sidney to a 236-256 victory over visiting Harpursvile.

Brett Pendorf (45), Alex Wheeler (46) and Ryan Tuttle (47) contributed to the Warriors’ first victory of the season.

Sidney (1-1) visits Bainbridge-Guilford on Tuesday.
