Sidney boys lose on header in OT
Panthers sweep titles at Edmeston tourney

Dan Radecki scored on a header with four minutes left in sudden-death overtime Saturday as Chenango Valley topped Sidney, 2-1, in the boys soccer championship of the Mang Tournament at Keith Clark Park.
Radecki converted a pass from John Moody, who scored unassisted in the second half for CV’s first goal.
Frank Mercurio scored for Sidney off an assist from all-tournament team pick Mike Guerriere midway through the second half, tying the score at 1.
Vince Dadamio earned MVP honors for CV (2-0), which plays in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.

Brenton Jones scored twice and Kyle Krause added a goal and an assist to lead Windsor past Bainbridge-Guilford in the consolation game of the Mang Tournament.
All-tournament pick Andy McFee scored twice for B-G, finishing with three for the two-day tournament.

Edmeston 4, Davenport 1 Matt Laymon and Trevor Hovick scored 10 minutes apart in the first half to erase a 1-0 deficit, and the Panthers went on to win their Edmeston Tournament.
After Davenport (1-1) scored 10 minutes in, Laymon converted a pass from James Slentz a minute later. Hovick then scored unassisted to put Edmeston (2-0) up for good.
Jordan Williams added his first varsity goal in the second half, and Jake Bartlett also scored.
Senior defender Ryan Laymon, Matt’s older brother, earned tournament MVP.
Two-time Tri-Valley League champion Edmeston beat Davenport by the same score in last year’s tournament final. It turned out to be the Wildcats’ only loss of the regular season, as Davenport went on to earn a share of the Delaware League title.
The Panthers visit Franklin on Tuesday.

Edmeston 1, Unadilla Valley 0 Sophomore Juli Vibbard earned her first varsity goal on a putback in the opening half, leading the Panthers (2-0) to a championship victory in the Edmeston Tournament.
Second-year varsity player Vibbard scored unassisted, and goalie Rose Davis stopped five shots for the shutout. Lori Cornell made six saves for the Storm (1-1).
Junior sweeper Chelsea Pavelka received Tournament MVP honors for Edmeston, which is home Tuesday for a Tri-Valley League opener against Franklin.
Margaretville beat Stamford, 7-0, in the consolation game. No further information was available from either coach Sunday night.

All-tournament selection Christine Mirabito scored all of Sidney’s goals Saturday and finished the tournament with five goals and an assist. Christie Meno and Theresa Mirabito also received all-tournament honors for the Warriors (1-1).
