SK girls win Stamford Cup in OT

Delhi upsets Greene

Courtney Laing scored two goals and assisted on another to lead South Kortright to a 5-3 overtime defeat of Jefferson in the championship game of the Stamford Mayor’s Cup on Saturday.

Meghan Hait scored twice to give Jefferson a 3-1 halftime lead. The Rams rallied with Laing’s goals in the second half to force overtime.

Kassie Tiller converted a pass from Kelsie Laing for the go-ahead goal in the first overtime period. Kelsie Laing then scored in the second overtime, helping the Rams to clinch their third straight Stamford Mayor’s Cup title.

SK’s Jessica Laing, Courtney Laing, Kassie Tiller and Megan Madore earned all-tournament honors, as did Jefferson’s Lita Sobierajski and Catrina Havrish.

South Jefferson Invitational

Joshua Edmonds finished fourth in 17:07 to lead the Cooperstown boys to sixth place. The Redskins finished with 165 points. Fayettville-Manlius won with 22 points.

Cooperstown’s girls took 12th with 330 points. F-M won with 36 points. Chelsea Conger took 39th in 24:36 for the Redskins, who are at Canastota on Wednesday.

Torey Jerauld finished 51st (25:07) for Unatego’s girls, who finished 10th out of 16.

Unatego competes at Walton at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
