| nds into the first overtime Wednesday to lead Worcester to a 1-0 girls soccer defeat of visiting Schenevus in the Tri-Valley League.
Bethany Stein got the ball at around midfield, beat a defender and dribbled down the right side. She crossed a ball from the end line to the middle, and Baker beat diving goalie Alicia Sagendorf to the right corner.
"I said, ’That’s how you draw them up, girls,’ " Worcester coach Jim Kenyon said. "Up until that point, we’d take it to the end line and wouldn’t play it back. That was the first time we did that all ga[an error occurred while processing this directive]me."
Emily Bristol made six saves to earn the shutout for the Wolverines (4-3-1, 3-1-1).
"My defense is tough," said Kenyon, whose team plays host to Franklin today. "We’re in every game because of my defense."
Sagendorf made 12 saves for Schenevus (5-3, 3-2).

Sidney 2, B-G 0 Christine Mirabito scored twice as visiting Sidney improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the Midstate Athletic Conference.
Mirabito converted a long pass up the left side from sweeper Lauren Lamb 3:30 into the game. She closed with a goal off an assist from Jessica Althiser with 7:17 to play.
"They forced us to play a lot of ’D,’ but we didn’t really pass it in," said B-G coach George Williams, whose team was outshot, 12-1. "We had trouble finishing. They don’t."
Misty Cotten had no saves in the shutout, and counterpart Jennifer Patten stopped nine shots for the Bobcats (3-5-1, 2-3).
"Patten played outstanding," Williams said. She made some saves that were like those ’Wow!’ saves."
B-G is at Greene on Friday.

Unatego 1, Unadilla Valley 0 Kelly Pearsall scored with 24:22 left in a MAC victory at home for Unatego. Pearsall walked in a shot after a Unatego corner kick went off UV keeper Lori Cornell.
"We had a lot that were very close today," Spartans coach Sue Herodes said. "That’s been kind of the story for some of the games. ... We’re getting a little better every game."
Erika Puffer stopped six shots for the shutout. Unatego is at Delhi on Tuesday.

Cooperstown 3, Mt. Markham 0 Anna Kieler scored twice on Dana Leonard assists inside the first nine minutes as the visiting Redskins remained undefeated with a Center State Conference Division II triumph.
Working the left side for both goals, Kieler scored three minutes in and five minutes after that to stake Cooperstown (9-0, 3-0) a 2-0 lead. Lisa Covert added a second-half goal for the Redskins, who started the 2004 season 11-0-1.
"We’re just having a very good season," Cooperstown coach Jennifer Pindar said. The girls are playing well."
Cortney Rowley stopped all 13 Mount Markham shots for the shutout.
The Redskins play host to Waterville on Friday before taking on nemesis Sauquoit Valley at home Tuesday. SV has edged Cooperstown for the division title by a half-point the last three years, Pindar said.

Chenango Forks 4, Oneonta 0 Justin Vantassel scored twice for host Chenango Forks in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference match.
Matt Hamel opened the scoring on a rebound goal 17 minutes into the opening half, helping the Blue Devils to a 2-0 lead at intermission.
"Actually, it was a pretty even game," said OHS coach Alex Brannan, whose team was outshot, 15-11. "We actually played pretty good today overall. The shots were pretty close and we had more corners (4-3). It was a pretty even game, except for the score."
Cory MacDonald made nine saves for the Jackets, who visit Susquehanna Valley for a 7 p.m. STAC match Saturday.

Josh Edmonds won in 17:09 to lead the Cooperstown boys to four victories during a six-team road meet in the Center State Conference. Cooperstown defeated Adirondack, Hamilton, Little Falls and West Canada Valley, but fell to Canastota.
Brian Reis placed third (17:44), Will Tirrell eighth (18:19) and Chuck Hollister 10th (18:23) for the Redskins (8-2).
Rebecca Adikes finished 10th in 23:45 to lead the Cooperstown girls (6-3), which went 2-2.
