Oneonta hangs in; Sidney routs Seton

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Staff Report

Mike Seroka’s 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and the ensuing conversion pass from Kyle Donnelly to Mike Heneghan helped the Oneonta High football team stay alive in the playoff race with a 22-20 victory over Dryden on Friday.

The late score gave Oneonta a 22-20 lead with 10 minutes, 36 seconds left, and Donnelly intercepted a pass on Dryden’s next possession.

The Jackets (3-5, 3-1) then ran the clock out with a long drive that ended at Dryden’s 1 as time expired.

Oneonta can make the Class B playoffs if Norwich loses to Susquehanna Valley on Saturday. That would give the Jackets a Division III playoff spot.
