Cooperstown advances
B-G falls to S-VE in Class C girls, 2-1
Staff Report
Reserve forward Bobby Bauer scored 12 minutes into the second half Tuesday to lead third-seeded Cooperstown over visiting Faith Heritage, 1-0, in a Section Three Class C boys soccer opener.
Jason Conklin stopped nine shots to help the Redskins reach the quarterfinals. Cooperstown will play Frankfort-Schuyler or Thousand Islands, whose opener was postponed Tuesday because of poor weather.
After a scoreless first half, Cooperstown’s Tom Adsit set up Bauer for the decisive goal.
Adsit ran down a ball that nearly crossed the endline in the Faith Heritage end, then made a short pass to Chris Gulotta. He quickly found Bauer for the winner.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]"We played in a driving snow storm," said Cooperstown coach Frank Miosek, whose team improved to 10-7-2. "We got to change uniforms at halftime and I think that it really helped us in the second half."

Jennifer Patten converted a chip-pass from Britney Fahringer with 17 minutes left in a Section Four Class C girls soccer opener, but Bainbridge-Guilford fell at Spencer-Van Etten.
Breanne Radin scored unassisted goals with 2:38 left in the first half and again around the 19-minute mark in the second half to give the third-seeded Panthers (8-6-1) the victory.
"This girl’s really good," B-G coach George Williams said of Radin. "She dribbled through a couple players both times and scored ... in this muck. Her goal in the first half was the killer. They got momentum going into the second half."
Williams added the field at S-VE was in "fairly respectable condition," despite cold temperatures and constant rainfall. S-VE’s boys will play on the same pitch at 3:30 p.m. today in a first-round Class C boys sectional against Candor.
Sixth-seeded B-G ended its season at 6-11-2.
