The high school basketball season gets under way starting today with several holiday tournaments.

Oneonta High plays host to Anthony C. Drago Tournament beginning tonight.

Unatego faces New Hartford in the varsity opener at 6:30 p.m., and the Yellowjackets take on Seton Catholic at 8:15 p.m. in a game that will also be counted in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.

The consolation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, with the championship to follow at 8:15 p.m.

Gone from this year’s Oneonta team is reigning Daily Star Player of the Year Chris Garcia, who averaged 17.6 points last season and is playing for Herkimer CC this season.
