Hawks swept on road

HARTWICK COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Utica rode a 19-4 run to open an Empire 8 Conference finale to a 69-46 women’s basketball rout of visiting Hartwick College on Tuesday.

With the score tied at 4 four minutes in, the Pioneers (17-7 overall, 9-5 E8) went on a 15-0 run to take control. Utica led, 34-18, at the half.

Lindsay Wilson and Danee Harrison finished with 11 points apiece for Hartwick (11-14, 6-8)

Utica’s Corrina Rustmann led all scorers with 23 points. She also had 10 rebounds.

Utica started strong en route to an Empire 8 victory over visiting Hartwick. Hartwick went 5-for-27 from the field in the first half, allowing Utica to take a 41-18 lead at the half.

The Pioneers (20-5, 11-3) had six players score in double figures and made 32 of their 56 attempts from the field.

Senior Tim Kindlon hit five three-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points in his final game for Hartwick (10-15, 4-10).
