Cobleskill sets school record for women’s basketball wins

Meghan Smida scored a college-high 20 points Thursday as host SUNY Cobleskill set a single-season school record for women’s basketball victories with a 67-45 defeat of Word of Life Bible Institute.

Dee Dee Smith contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Fighting Tigers (23-4), who received 14 points and two blocks from Krystal Ferrer.

Cobleskill awaits its seed for the upcoming NJCAA Division III Tournament.

Mohawk Valley 75, Cobleskill 49

Raniel Lockwood scored 20 points Wednesday night to lead Mohawk Valley Community College to a Mountain Valley Conference men’s basketball triumph at home.

Daniel Smalls scored a team-high 20 points and Rey Crossman had 10 for the Fighting Tigers (11-17), who finished with their worst record since going 9-16 during the 1992-93 season.

Cobleskill had won 20 or more men’s basketball games the past 12 seasons.
