NCAA provisional time in 50 free for ’Wick swimmer

HARTWICK COLLEGE SWIMMING

Hartwick senior Dan Holmberg placed third in the 50-yard freestyle Thursday at the New York State Collegiate Swim Association Championship, helping Hartwick to tie for second in the team standings after the first day of finals at Syracuse-Nottingham High.

Holmberg finished in 20.87 seconds, a time that provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Division III Championships.

Entering Friday’s events, Hartwick was tied with Union College at 328 points. Alfred University led the meet at 396. Ithaca was fourth at 297.

Adam McElligot finished third in 1-meter diving with 462.15 points. Mark Phillips was fourth at 435.40 in the same event. Kevin Milkovich placed sixth in the 500 free.

The meet concludes Saturday night.
