GLENS FALLS (AP) — Aaron Fischer scored 16 points to lead Charles G. Finney to a 60-58 overtime defeat of Martin Luther King in the Class D state boys basketball championship game Saturday at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Fischer made two free throws with 7.8 seconds left in overtime to clinch the victory.

Tournament MVP Andy Marchand contributed 12 points on four three-pointers for the Falcons, who beat Davenport, 58-43, in a state semifinal Friday. Marchand hit three three-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points in Friday’s victory over the SectionFour champion Wildcats.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]Finney (24-3), which trailed by 10 points after one quarter, rallied from a 22-15 halftime deficit.

M.L. King’s Eric Mingo tied the score at 52 on a jumper to close the scoring in regulation with about a minute left.

Alfred Rock scored a game-high 19 points for M.L. King (16-8), which won the Class D state title last year. Emmanuel Lopez contributed 15 points and Mingo finished with 14.

CLASS AA

Mt. Vernon 57, Niagara Falls 53


GLENS FALLS (AP) — Tournament MVP Jonathan Mitchell scored a tournament-record 32 points to lead Mount Vernon past defending champion Niagara Falls on Sunday.

Mitchell, who contributed seven rebounds, went 12-for-23 from the field.

The Knights (22-5) also got 10 points from David Clark. Jonathan Flynn scored 20 points to lead Niagara Falls (21-5).

CLASS A

Peekskill 46, Sweet Home 39

GLENS FALLS (AP) — Tournament MVP Mookie Jones scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Peekskill to its second straight Class A championship Sunday.

Andre Jacobs and Tyrone Murphy had 10 points each for the Red Devils (26-1). Quentin Hudson scored 12 points for Sweet Home (21-6).

CLASS B

Lackawanna 67,

John F. Kennedy Catholic 50


GLENS FALLS (AP) — Tournament MVP Lesean Braxton scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Lackawanna past John F. Kennedy Catholic in the Class B final Saturday.

The Steelers (26-1) also got a game-high 25 points from Marcus Rivers and 14 from Steve Kozaczka. Rivers was 6-for-13 from three-point range.

Tyrell Thompson scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds for the Gaels (23-4), which trailed by as many as 20.

CLASS C

Campbell-Savona 39,

Stillwater 35


GLENS FALLS (AP) — Tournament MVP Matt Newman scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Campbell-Savona to victory Saturday.

The Panthers (24-3) took the lead for good at 36-35 on Will Cornett’s basket with two minutes to play. David Alston and Grady Edwards each scored 11 points for Stillwater (26-2).

Girls Basketball

END wins C title

Elmira Notre Dame won the Class C state championship Sunday with a 44-37 victory over East Rockaway.

END earned Section Four’s second state championship of the day as the Crusaders followed South Kortright’s 72-50 Class D title triumph over Chapel Field.

END beat Midstate Athletic Conference champion Bainbridge-Guilford, 65-35, in a Class C sectional semifinal en route to the Section Four title.

In other girls state-title games:

Rush-Henrietta won the Class AA championship with a 56-48 victory over White Plains.

Pittsford Sutherland won the Class A title with a 62-49 victory over Our Lady of Lourdes of Poughkeepsie.

South Jefferson earned the Class B championship by beating Nazareth Academy, 48-41.
