Erik Weber (Bainbridge-Guilford) pitched a three-hitter in the second game to lead host Oneonta State to a split with rival Cortland in a key SUNY Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Wednesday.

Weber (5-1) struck out eight and walked one as O-State took advantage of five errors en route to a 3-1 victory.

Cortland won the opener, 3-0.

The teams are tied atop the SUNYAC with 10-2 records. O-State closes out the conference season by hosting Oswego at 1 p.m. today and Cortland travels to New Paltz.

O-State (24-8) trailed, 1-0, entering the bottom of the third inning of the second game.

Chris Brew led off with a single to center and Jake Wasielewski followed with an infield single. Chris Salamida then singled to center.

Cortland outfielder Adam Sidebottom had an error on the play, allowing Brew to score and Wasielewski to move to third. Salamida then stole second and Wasielewski home on a double steal. Salamida went to third on an error by second baseman Will Groff.

After Ryan Myers popped out to first and Brandon Galutz struck out looking, Dan Paquette reached on an error by third baseman Ricky Piovesan to score Salamida and make it 3-1.

Cortland (27-6) was held hitless the rest of the way. Weber struck out the final two batters to end it.

Salamida (6-2) pitched a six-hitter in the opener, striking out six and walking four. He allowed three unearned runs.
